Anyone have any tips to stop snoring at night? My snoring is bad! My man kicked me out of the room to our couch last night because I kept waking him by snoring. I have gained some weight due to antipsychotics and idk if that is what’s making me snore so bad or what. I’m bigger than I used to be, but not severely obese. I also am so drained by the end of each day I think that doesn’t help either. But I’m tired of my man bitching about it so I need ideas lol.
You definitely need a sleep study done. I use to not snore but , it’s bad now. I had to have a cpap an feel alot better the next day
Snoring is usually due to sleep apnea. There are machines that can help.
Definitely do a sleep study. You likely have sleep apnea, in which case you’ll get more and better sleep with a CPAP machine, eliminating some of the tiredness.
In the meantime, there are nose & mouth strips available at drug stores that can help. Elevate the top of your bed with a bed wedge or just stuff something under the mattress to elevate your upper body to help you breathe. Higher pillows won’t help unless you use them under your mattress. You may also want to try a humidifier to help you breathe at night. And yes, losing weight will likely help.
Getting more exercise will also help you sleep better. Put on music and dance, follow a You Tube video, get the family to take a walk with you before or after dinner, take a class in something fun like indoor rock climbing, synchronized swimming, kayaking or whatever floats your boat and is offered near you. Go hiking as a family. Start small and challenge yourself to add 3 more minutes of activity every week. Make it a habit so you don’t have to think about it.
Eat better. Don’t think about giving anything up, think of adding. Eat more colorful vegetables and less meat per plate (save $$ too) and buy organic. We don’t need the growth hormones in beef and poultry!
Try vegetarian and vegan recipes. You can always add some meat. Add extra vegetables to whatever you’re cooking. I always have shredded carrots, chopped celery, frozen spinach and frozen mixed vegetables on hand to throw whatever works into soups, stews, chili, spaghetti sauce, pot pies, etc. I buy prepared salads in bags & bowls and add extra lettuce (not iceberg—no nutrients) because I’m more likely to eat them.
Hippeas are better snacks. Have cut fruit, vegetables and nuts (preferably other than peanuts) on hand to snack on. Brown rice (get those 90-second packs if you’re pressed for time, but microwave them in a glass bowl), whole wheat pasta and bread and sweet potatoes are so much better for than their white options. Get plain yogurt and add fresh or frozen fruit, maple syrup, honey or jam. Cook with olive oil vs. butter.
As for fast food, Honeygrow, CAVA, Sweetgreen and Panera have healthy options and Wendy’s has tasty salads, chili and grilled chicken sandwiches. KFC has pot pies that have lots of calories but also lots of vegetables. Some Subway sandwiches or wraps are better than hamburgers.
Unsweetened iced tea is usually a drink option and carrying a filled reusable (non-plastic) water bottle with you always (keep it in your car) is healthy for you and the planet. Most stores have water fountains or you can refill them with tap water from the sink in the bathroom. Add fruit, cucumber, mint, rosemary or lemon or lime juice if you want. Make your own iced tea from the myriad kinds of tea bags available.
Good luck!
I’ve read somewhere that when you snore you are not getting enough oxygen to the brain but idk definitely go get it checked out!
Get checked for sleep apnea!
Check with your doctor, may need a sleep study done and CPAP.
