What age can kids start eating popcorn? My mom told me ghat my 2 year old could have it and I had to “stop believing everything I read on the internet” But I am jsut wanting to keep my baby safe…
No… a 2 year old shouldn’t have popcorn.
I wouldn’t give a 2 year old popcorn. It’s a choking hazard.
4yo+ they have to have to really be able to chew it up. Because the kernels can get stuck and they can choke.
I think my kids were around 3ish when I gave them popcorn. I wasn’t super ott with food rules, it was more common sense stuff. Like if they’re used to softer foods they’re probably not going to chew up something harder to eat yet. I didn’t cut everything up in to tiny pieces like many do now but I was sitting with them at any meal time where they needed to be watched to make sure they’re eating it sensibly.
My youngest has been eating popcorn since she turned 1
It’s a choking hazard but a little kid can choke on anything if they are not supervised when they are eating , but if you feel uncomfortable with the idea of giving popcorn you can always give them the puffy ones
I’d probably wait until they’re at least three so they understand how to cough if it gets stuck.
I eat it with them since they were 6months old. I just bite off the husk so there’s no fear of choking. They love it!
I waited until 5. There are so many other options.
My 1.5 yr old eats it just fine. I think it depends on the child honestly and how many kiddos that you have. He is my 4th and last. Now my nephew is the same age and I wont give him popcorn because he doesnt chew food well.
Not all kids are the same. If they know how to chew their food welll, I don’t see the problem. Just make sure you supervise them. Kids can choke on anything at any age.
