What are signs of postpartum depression?

I have a 15 month beautiful rainbow baby, and after birth my depression and anxiety sky rocketed as well as several different medical issues. I went to my doctor in March and she gave me a serotonin balancer to help depression and anxiety. At this appointment I also addressed that I am in constant pain. My entire body just hurts. The pain fluctuates quiet often, but at my appoint she pretty much blew off my pain and focused my appointment on my mental health which I appreciate. I have a follow up appointment in about two weeks and I plan on addressing this again.

Anywho have any other ladies experienced constant pain in their entire bodyā€™s? My limbs suddenly fall numb sometimes as well, or sometimes my pain is like slight pins and needles. The uncomfort is overwhelming already. Thank you in advance :yellow_heart:

Iā€™m wondering if this is a direct consequence of your anxiety and depression . I have Been there and know at the drop of a dime it can happen again.

Went through it all through my last pregnancy and while nursing. The drs donā€™t give a rip, they never helped with it. I would end up sleeping in a hot bath a few times a night because that was one of the only ways the pain would subside. And I would use salonpaus heat patches on whatever body part was hurting the worst. I also got microwaveable heat pads with the clay in them to help wash the pain

it sounds like some sort of nerve issues. pinched nerve or something.
just make sure dr knows that itā€™s affecting normal day to day activities. if it is i mean.

Depression and anxiety may manifest overall fatigue and pain. My guess is your doctor is trying to address the depression/anxiety first to see if the pain eases some.

Your doctor was wrong to brush this off When you go back if the doctor doesnā€™t do anything for you please find someone else

I have this issue and itā€™s from an imbalance in my body. I found out it is actually due to a MTHFR and CBS gene mutation. I never had issues with those things prior to having children. Iā€™m trying specific vitamins now that are suppose to help with it, so we will see if it works or not. But itā€™s worth mentioning to your doctor to test for those mutations

That sounds like my fibromyalgia which was very mild until after my first csection with my second. Then it skyrocketed and Iā€™m in pain every day unless I take my Lyrica. Itā€™s all over my body now when it only used to be in my legs and feet.

Sounds like all of these other ladies have the right idea. My doctor told my my depression was causing my body aches and pain. When they got my meds figured out and up to the right level the pains did get a lot better. Give it a little time, but do let them know your still hurting. They may need to up you depression meds or possibly change it all together. Good luck and remember, things will get better. :grinning:

Iā€™ve been diagnosed with fibro and feel like the flu dailyšŸ˜žā€¦have found/gained life back with cbd patch. Migraines, pain, clearer thinking, mood is relaxed and so much more

Try CBD oilā€¦ it helps with the depression & anxiety & pain of all kinds

Hate to sound ignorant but what is a rainbow baby?. Your pain might be Lupus.

Endometriosis caused me to have those symptoms. Hands and feet would go numb or tingle and Iā€™d be in pain all day long. Sometimes it was manageable but other times It was horrible. It got extremely bad to where I couldnā€™t walk, my legs would just give out or my back would hurt so bad I couldnā€™t stand up all the way. I would have muscle spasms that looked like seizures because the polyps from my endometriosis were on my spinal cord.

Almost sounds like fibromyalgia

Are you breastfeeding? My body hurts from laying in uncomfortable side positions to allow baby to eat. My body is always achy because of that. Also, make sure to take postnatal vitamins because our bodies become depleted from pregnancy. Also, gets depleted with breastfeeding. A vitamin/mineral deficiency can also cause your body to feel that way.

Could possibly be nerve damage if itā€™s numb. Happened to me after I gave birth to my twins 16 months ago

My anxiety bad too thank God I go for my 2 week check up tomorrow to get on some meds

I deal with depression also and that alone can bring on pain. I also have chronic illness . It takes time for the pain to subside.

Iā€™m in constant pain and my doc usually puts it down to anxiety rather than my depression. Anxiety causes me problems continually, the last time, being a broken hand during a bad attack.
Normally my aches and pains are around my joints, hips and elbows etc. Iā€™m given a lot of pain pills to get through the days.

OP:

To the ladies who have asked if I am breastfeeding unfortunately I am not any longer . I have considered fibromyalgia and nerve damage like a few of you have mentioned. Honestly I had high hopes of this all being depression and anxiety induced, but although my mental health has improved tremendously, the pain is just as bad. Itā€™s through out my entire body, sometimes joint based. It began in my calves then eventually scattered throughout my body. It has interfered with my day to day activities to the point where my priority is of course caring for my baby. I am blessed to have a boyfriend who helps pick up slack, and allows me to be a stay at home mom. I thank you all for the kind comments and generous suggestions :two_hearts:

It sounds like maybe your body is still trying to get back to normal and taking longer than usual I know I had so many problems I was in labor 3 days and they I was torn and could not pee on my own and they said Iā€™d have to go home with a catheter my sister was in LPN this is at the old Holy Cross hospital and she said you drink this beer and youā€™ll be peeing and can go home without a Catherine you I hate beer so I drank two beers and within an hour I was peeing on my own and I could go home without a catheter however I had trouble for a year and had to run water over me in order to pee if I still had pain and 4 years after that I still had a problem because I was so torn I was supposed to have a C-section 5 doctors had to agree and one didnā€™t so I paid the price so things happen to your body that sometimes donā€™t heal overnight Carol Ann
