I woke up from a nap and my water broke two weeks from my due date lol I immediately had contractions and had to go to the hospital
It never hurts to go get checked you would rather be safe then late lol. With my first my water broke so it was kinda obvious I was in labor haha with my second I had a scheduled c section. But if you feel like it’s best to go get checked you should go
Oh honey, youll KNOW when your in labor. That’s a pain like no other…

First was induced. My other 2 started on there on. Back pain my belly felt uncomfortable like odd almost. Then the waves off pressure came. My water never broke until my doctor broke it 2i was at 10cm the second time. It doesn’t always break.
I was induced with my first as my specialist was going on holidays before I was due with my second I was induced cause my baby was late by over a week my 3 rd I got pains and went to hospital and they put me in again induced as was due the following day and my fourth my waters started to break slowly didn’t know what was happening but went to hospital and they kept me there and induced me to make baby come quicker … every pregnancy is different but mine are all 4 boys and they didn’t help me …congratulations you will be ok I was in the same boat each time not know what was going to happen but all 4 of mine where born within 3 hours
I was losing my mucus plug little bits at a time for about 2 weeks prior to labor, the night I went into labor I woke up at 11pm to go pee when I got to the footboard of my bed I thought I’d just peed a little (as this happened often by this point from my sons positioning against my bladder) and when I got to the bathroom maybe 20 feet away I sat down to pee and as I did started having a contraction and it was intense enough that I couldn’t holler for my fiancé, but not so intense that I would say I was in pain, it more just took my breath away than painful, by the time I got to the hospital within a half hour my son was ceonwjng
I wish I had stories to tell you but unfortunately I was induced with my son due to high blood pressure and I didn’t feel anything never knew I was having contractions and slept through 99% of it… only time I felt the contraction pain was when they broke my water and I demanded the epidural cause I couldn’t handle the pain…
If your unsure go to the hospital even if you think you’ll just get turned away, I took like half an hour getting my toddler & SO ready, I warmed, cleaned snow off the car at 4:30am Not rushing because I didn’t want to be at the hospital longer than I needed to or get sent home… I gave birth in the front seat of my CAR in the hospital driveway as we were pulling in! Welp it was definitely an experience you don’t want
I love when people say oh you’ll know… because it’s definitely not the same for all of us. I’ve had 2 kids and quite frankly I didn’t have any major sign labor was near because I didn’t have contractions until 10 minutes before pushing my first and 24 minutes before pushing my second one. My first boy it was 2am I went in Bc it was a full moon and I just kinda had a feeling it was time, my second I was at my dr appointment and she was going to strip me and said oh nope you’re going to be having a baby today and I walked over to the hospital side and laid down got strapped to the monitors and hour later had a baby
no epidural no pain meds pushed 10 minutes(2 pushes on my first) 13 minutes (3 pushes on my second. They’re definitely a chance that you won’t “know you’re in labor”

I had my daughter 9 months ago and went into labour at midnight. I went to the toilet and when I finished and stood back up I felt like i wee’d myself a little again. So I sat back down, nothing happened so I went back to bed. As I went to lie down it happened again but a lot more water came out, went back to the toilet and it was basically a constant running of water coming out. So I went and woke my partner up and rang the hospital first. I told her that it was only liquid that I could see and she told me I could have just pee’d myself and to wait 1 more hour, call again and she will advise me on what to do. So far I had no contractions.
- the week prior to this I had braxton hicks but not very bad, and a had some pains that I told my midwives about and they told me I was in ‘early labour’ but it could take anywhere up from a day-2 Weeks to actually have my baby. (I was 38.5wks when I went into labour)
So back to that, I waited an hour, no pain - just a lot of liquid coming out that was a slight yellow colour, no blood etc. I showered and got all of our stuff ready in the car - we rang the hospital again and told her what was happening and she told us to come in and I’d get checked.
Not even half way down our street my contractions started. They weren’t overly painful but definitely worse than the braxton hicks. I started throwing up so my partner had to turn around so we could get a sick bag. At this point my contractions were round about 10 mins apart from memory, and the hospital was about 35 mins away.
We got into the hospital, had to wait about half an hour to get into a room and my contractions had only gotten a little bit closer together.
Due to a health condition I had I had to be monitored closely but I was only 1cm dilated and could probably go home.
Fast forward a few hours they decided I would stay in hospital because of my auto immune disease but I was only 3cm dilated so they told me it may still be a while. I think at about 7am they told me even tho I was experiencing very painful, close together contractions - I hadn’t progressed much and asked if I wanted an epidural. (So far I hadn’t had any pain relief) I agreed and they were ready to do it but they double checked and said never mind - you’re not having an epidural you’re pushing your baby out because you are 10cm dilated. (This was about 8am) so in an hour I dilated from 3-10cm and my daughter was born at 9:21am
Also, the day before I had her, I had my normal midwife appt and I had told them I hadn’t felt her move all day - so they put me in the day assessment unit to monitor me and baby, said everything was fine and sent me home. The next night I went into labour! I have heard a lot of people tell me the day of or day before they had their babies , they didn’t have any movement at all. So that can sometimes be a sign. Just make sure you always tell your doctors if you ever go a day without movement.
I hope this helps, goodluck
My first son I was induced as well so I wasn’t at all sure what to expect with my second son. One night I ended up going to the hospital because even though there was no pain it felt like he was going to fall out. It happened out of nowhere and to walk I literally had to stick my butt out and duck waddle because I seriously thought he was falling out. I went all the way to the hospital to be sent home. All night I felt sick, like I had the flu. The next morning I went into active labor. The contractions were so bad I couldn’t walk or talk or even move and the flu like feeling got worse as the contractions did. I made it to the hospital in the next town and into my room and gown but I wasn’t even fully admitted before he came. I just remember waiting on the OB, then my water broke. Then everything happened so fast. I felt him coming and I screamed, the OB rushed in, they pulled me up on the table and he was already crowning. One more push and he was out. My first induced labor was 12 hours but this one was only 2 and a half.
My water broke and I went in, but if it hadn’t I probably would have waited, I really wasn’t in any pain from the contractions, only the last bit when he was moving down before I pushed I felt like he was going to break my tailbone
Well with my first I never went into labor on my own. With my second I did go into labor on my own and in the beginning I got really bad lower back pain and very uncomfortable crappiness kinda like period craps. With my third my water broke in the middle of the night while I was sleeping (it woke me up) so labor kinda just kicked in all at once really bad.
I thought after 42 weeks hospitals had to induce because of possible complications such as fetal distress?? If I were you I would be googling ways to induce and keep getting monitored.
Oh a cramp…feels like my period again…
Husband: we need to go to the hospital?
Me: naw I’m good.
2 hrs later…
Me: ouch holy crap drive this baby is coming!
You will know
I didnt even know I was in labor. Started having cramps at 8 am and just thought I wasnt feeling good all day, was only 38 weeks. I went all day until 11 PM when I just felt awful and the cramps got worse. Went in. Had been in labor since that 8 am. Still didnt have my son until 6 PM that next day. 34 hours of labor. You dont always know. I got an epidural a few hours after going to the hospital and never felt the bad stuff.
I was induced with both 1st was an emergency and second scheduled. But the whole week before the 2nd I was tired, I had weird pains in my back/ butt, I had a friend tell me that’s how hers started so I knew it was coming, at this point I was at 1 for dilation so I wasn’t too excited. The day before I could actually time the back/butt contractions about 22 minutes apart all day. I woke up the morning of and they were anywhere from 10/7 minutes apart. When we got there they confirmed yes you are having contractions pretty regularly and the induction should go smoothly, boy were they wrong. But that’s another story. Point is you might not necessarily have them in your stomach and mine didn’t hurt just a weird pulling feeling in my butt/lower back. My friend who had the same type barely made it to the hospital and they got her on a bed right before she had to start pushing. My water did break on its own so I was happy I got to experience that this last time around, the contractions were getting worse so I asked for a bath and then I felt like I had to pee almost as soon as I got in and it was like I peed but couldn’t control it, looked at the water and there was stuff floating in the tub, so I got out and from then on every contraction more leaked out, I still can’t believe how much water there was it was everywhere.
Honestly, I felt like I had eaten something that didnt agree with me. I was going to the bathroom with the poop feeling every few minutes before I realized I was in labor. My water never broke and I never noticed a mucus plug.
This was only my experience as everyone labors differently
With both of my pregnancies, my water broke. It’s not like in the movies, where there’s a big gush. It was more like I was peeing myself.
My first was the only one I wasn’t induced with. My biggest sign was I got up in the middle of the night to pee and I thought I was done so I’d stand up then I would feel like I had to pee again and I did and it wasn’t just a sprinkle it was a small amount…I repeated this a couple times before I just sat there…45 minutes later I decided to get up and not much longer I started to feel tiny contractions gradually getting stronger…a few hours later I decided it was time to go to the hospital we stopped at the gas station to grab breakfast since I knew I wasn’t gunna be able to eat…and of course my water breaks in the gas station…it was just like I peed myself so had to go home and change…once we got to the hospital more of my water came out…like someone stated it’s not a huge gory amount like movies lol
I know this is very little help right now but you will just know!!! You will know they are real contractions. They first start out as slight cramp like tighting. I have 5 kids and it’s just an instinct. I wait till they are about 7 mins apart when I start getting ready to go. I also lost my mucus plug the day before labor started with each of my kids. Good luck. And I swear to you, you will know when to go!
Well, when ur water breaks (if it does) that’s a pretty for sure sign. I sat on my couch, felt a pop senstation and a trickle of “water” came out. Put a panty liner on and out the door I went. My first, I just felt “off”. It was summer I was uncomfortable, hot and 5 days over due. Cramps had seen getting stronger and I just needed him out. So, I went and they admitted me. Doctor broke my water and almost 4 hrs later he was here. Different for every mom and every baby. If unsure, best to go then wait. Or call the triage. I called them 4 times in an hour because I was unsure. Finally decided I just better go. Best wishes!!
My water broke at home, I heard/felt the pop, I had zero contractions before that. They then went from nothing to 2 min apart in less than 45 minutes
When you loose that plug there will be no mistaken…
I was induced with my first three children. Was going to be induced with my fourth. But she decided to come the day before. My advice would be to not get induced. I live a good ways from the hospital and made it. It was so much better.
I had the same problem ended up havibg my baby at home bc i didnt know i was in labor and was able to sleep threw it my 2nd started with just light cramping like mild period cramps but i thought i would be in alot of pain if i was in labor so i thought i maybe was having to poop cus i hadnt in a few days well nope woke up water broke and my baby was right there had him on my couch but id u start having tighting in your belly they will be continuously coming so time it your belly will get really hard and tight if u dont feel pain mine arent very painful lucky until i get really close call the hospital if u keep getting them like every 12 min for 45 min to hour now if it get closer faster u may want to just go everyone is differwnt progressive different and has diff torlance for pain an may have diffrrent symptoms…nvr worry about going in my 4 baby bc my 3rd labor was fast as well i was having contractions for about a week before i was taken to csec i went to hospital a few time and got sent home she was breech so i was just contracting and not dialating but i lost mucus plug and all so i thought but my dr said that mucus plug doesnt matter so dont be affraid to go in if u think u need to…it better than not going and end up waiting until its to late and having baby at home…good luck
I’m 38 weeks +5 and I dont even know what I’m waiting for. I feel contractions but what’s worse is I swear she is pushing against them, it makes me loose my breath. I can even describe the pulling sensation. I’m wondering if this is labor
Your belly will tighten and it will be every 12 min or 8 min 5 min ect. Qhen u get every 3 min apart its getting close…some dont have alot of pain and mucus plug doesnt matter bc it can regrow itself ask ur dr how close your contraction need to be for u to head to hospital…if water breaks go right way
My water never broke and the cramps started feeling sort of like period cramps. I timed them even though I thought it was only Braxton hicks. Ended up calling the hospital to ask and they told me to go in. I was 5cm dilated when I got to hospital and that was maybe half an hour/hour after the contractions started.
I think your due the day after me
With my son my waters broke first, it was a massive gush, everyone is different
You can induce labor by twisting your nipples. It causes hormones. Tell the dr. You have to be admitted to the hospital before. The first contraction I had was deeply pleasant.
As cliche as it sounds, you just know!! I was induced with my first. Had my 2nd last march, 10.5 yrs later! When it started i thought it was braxton hicks but when it didn’t go away after 10 min and got worse i was like “it’s baby time!” And 2 hours later he was here
All that pain you felt after being induced is what you should look for. Ouuucchhh
