What can you do for migraines in pregnancy?

I normally suffer from migraines and the only thing that has ever helped me is migraine formula meds/Excedrin which I can’t take right now due to being pregnant. I’ve tried peppermint oil, warm compresses x Tylenol, even prescription meds and nothing helps. Any pregnant women out there happen to have luck with something else??

I had to be put on prescription medication for my migraines with this pregnancy. I don’t remember what it was called, but it was the only thing that helped me.

Talk to your doctor about magnesium

My OB has me on a compazine/benadryl/tylenol combo right now instead of my rizatriptan. It takes the edge off enough to watch my toddler but I’m still useless under bright lights

Im on imitrex only thing that really helps. Im on a higher dose of a vitamin that will help slow it down if i catch it early enough. I was say it’s magnesium but i can look if you want to try it

Talk to your OB, daily magnesium may be an option

When I was pregnant and had migraines the first thing to look at is your blood pressure if thats not the general cause then the formula meds for migraine usually include ibuprofen (use Tylenol instead) with a small cup of coffee. Is what I used when my blood pressure wasn’t the cause

I had two migraines when I was pregnant. Absolutely horrible to say the least. But I mentioned it to the dr. And she said often times migraines are caused from not eating enough iron. So eat more greens maybe? She explained the baby takes a lot of ur nutrition, which makes sense. She said increase ur iron and also wrote me a script for iron pills, and after that didnt have anymore. So with just my experience, that was what it was.

Talk to your midwife and doctor, there are migrane pills that have little effect on baby, i was on them pre baby.

I had migraines bad… Turned out I had preeclampsia.

All my friend could do was Tylenol and drank lots of water. Not sure it helped.

Mine were not having enough caffeine… I never drank soda and I had to while I was pregnant.

How about a bit of Coca-Cola? The combination of caffeine, carbonation and sugar was often an effective headache/migraine remedy before I got pregnant. My obstetrician and physician approved of me continuing that in moderation through pregnancy.

I took propranolol throughout my pregnancy to prevent them! Very rarely had them.

My dr prescribed me meds.

I put my feet and hands in cold water and a cold rag on the back of my neck and have low lights on and migraine music playing lol only thing that helped me in my pregnancy

I had to put ice packs on my head. Also, check out the daith piercings.

Talk to your doctor, could be your blood pressure or as my doctor told me my magnesium levels might be low.

Zantac. I had a 16 day long migraine before finding out that too much acid in your blood can go to your brain and cause migraine. I’ve been a migraine sufferer for years and this was my 4th pregnancy. Never happened before during pregnancy and I had low iron each time and severe preeclampsia once. Hopefully you find relief

Had a head ache during my pregnancy nothing helped turned out I had preeclampsia and I was induced at 35 wks I had my baby 11 days ago.

Honestly, I drink a can of soda (or part of one) and take tylenol

I’m on Imitrex 25mg and take magnesium everyday for a preventative measure. They both help a ton!!! Definitely talk to your Doctor about these options

Magnesium before bed every night was the only thing that worked for me

My doctor person fiorcet while I was pregnant

I was told you’re able to take excedrin while pregnant by my doctor

Magnesium, but also get checked out- it can be a sign of preeclampsia.

Ask dr about Fioricet

Have you ever tried massage? I am a massage therapist, and I have had several clients who say that the frequency/intensity of their migraines is helped by having regular massage, especially focusing on face/scalp/neck.

My obgyn prescribed me a med like Excedrin but instead of the aspirin they use Tylenol I can’t remember the name but I definitely call you offi e and get them to prescribe something if you need them too (mine get so bad I’ll vomit)

My Dr told me to take two extra strength Tylenol, a 25 mg Benadryl and some caffeine. Also get an ice pack for the back of your neck and a cool rag for over your eyes and sit in a dark quiet room

Excedrin tension headache (without aspirin) and dr prescription of fiorcet for my migraines

Cbd oil…rub it on your temples

I would have One cup of coffee a day so I wouldn’t get migraines

Vitamin b2 400mcg daily is a good preventative but honestly best thing is to see a neurologist

Cold ice pack on the back of my neck

As a chronic migraine sufferer, I’ve been having these discussions with my obgyn for years about what I’ll be able to take when pregnant. Triptan medications, especially imitrex, and fioricet have been considered to be pregnancy safe. Ask your on about prescribing something for you

My dr gave me a prescription for my headaches and it worked wonders but she said only take as necessary because it does have caffeine in it

A little coffee or peppermint tea

Heat pack over your forehead and across your temples. And caffeine. Lay in a dark room. No noise. Mine would easy in about 15 20 minutes

Try drinking pineapple juice.

Caffeine and Benadryl

Try a hemp shampoo ive had migraines ever since i can remember horrible have 2 sleep um off migraines and it is the only thing that has actually worked on keeping them away i haven’t had 1 since i started using a hemp shampoo 3months ago and i use 2 get them every 2 to 3 days… I wash my hair with it at least twice a week…

My doctor prescribed Tylenol 3 and Zofran. Took them with a half of a Pepsi and it worked better than anything else. Not always the best relief but its the only thing that helped at all

Google the daith piercing for your ear. I have had migraine issues for over 30 years and was on every medication you can think of, nothing worked. I got the piercing almost three years ago and have not had one migraine and off all meds. Best $65 I have ever spent.

Actually my husband has migraines from a medical condition. He drinks 8 oz of coconut water and oj every day (disclaimer i am not saying it works miracles). There is something about the combination that helps reduce the frequency of his. I prefer the cold goosebumps everywhere and let me sleep it off.

My doctor prescribed me magnesium for my horrible pregnancy headaches and so far it has worked!

I discovered cucumbers are a great migraine relief. No Advil - it can cause problems. Speak with your dr
