what causes heart burn all the time? i swear i wake up with it in the middle of the night almost every single day of the week

It can be caused by lots of stuff…however I would say most of the time the issue is lack of stomach acid.

All different types of foods & additives. alcohols, preservatives, sugars, sweeteners, Acidic foods, even dairy. Maybe also not eating enough of certain foods. It’s usually the result of an imbalance of chemicals in your gut. & I wouldn’t recommend any form of relief tablet at any time.

Get it checked out. Please. This can be a sign of heart problems. If you’re needing antacids all the time, it’s really not a good thing, even if it’s reflux. For my Mum, her regular Gaviscon was hiding that her body was probably having small heart attacks.
For me heartburn and acid reflux are usually caused by sinus drainage and/or really acidic foods
Diseased gall bladder, thats what I had, had gall bladder removed in 1991, now I only get indigestion if I eat something a little too spicey

My husband takes a daily pill for acid reflux. He usually gets it really bad with red sauce, spicy food, coffee, or fake sugar. Like the stuff in diet pop or zero calorie flavored water.

Coffee is really bad for it. I had to completely stop drinking it! Anything w caffeine! I’ve had reflux for a very long time.
Have your gallbladder checked!!! I’ve been dealing with it since my first pregnancy, and it’s worse when I eat tomato sauce or grilled/smoked foods.id have heart burn go on for days, I have to keep up with Pepto,or Tums and pepcid. Since I’ve had my gallbladder out,I haven’t had as much issues with those foods and stuff,even for being pregnant with my third.

I swear everything! Lol I suffer from acid reflux so bad it’s caused damage to my esophagus. Chocolate and any red sauce are huge things that will cause it. Fast food causes it alot as well. Anything fried.
A bunch of different things, diet, acidic/spicy foods, anxiety, acid reflux, pregnancy. Your best bet would be to go to your doctor if you’re dealing with it all the time. Good luck!

So many things bother me. Coffee, spices, like oregano, sage,basil, cinnamon,nutmeg. Soda, sweetners, lemonade,greasy foods,fried foods,onions, garlic. I hiatial hernia will cause it too.
