My 3 week old nephew throws up milk from his nose and mouth and stops breathing until he goes limp. Multiple emergency care visits and doctor visits and still no answers. The last visit the doctor saw it happen and claimed it to be acid reflux. She gave him medicine and it’s still happening. Has anyone ever experienced this?
My daughter did this…has baby had xray? My daughter had ileus, which is a blockage in the intestine.
Same thing happened with my son. The first time he was 15 days old. Ever since then I have him sit for 45 minutes after eating. He’s now almost 3 months and it’s stopped
My grandson was doing this. Doctors kept changing his formula. Sadly he passed 3-31-23… prayers for your precious baby
Happened to my daughter. She couldn’t do any formulas. She had to drink goat milk
Yes, my daughter did this. It’s probably an allergic reaction to milk. She literally almost died in the hospital (she turned blue, they called code blue on her, it was so scary). Switched her to soy formula, didn’t happen again.
My son used to do this when he was a baby. He was lactose intolerant. We had to switch his formula to lactose free. I remembered it would spew everywhere across the whole couch. He was great when we switched. Now he’s 6 and he grew out if it and is fine with all dairy
Have you had his palate checked they were concerned my daughter had a submucous cleft palate and always asked if that happened when she ate which it never did so they finally ruled it out when she was 2 after seeing an ENT that specialized in that.
Happened with my oldest son. He was my first and it scared me. He turned purple one day. Finally at 7 months he was scheduled for an endoscopy and confirmed diagnosis of GERD(gastroesophageal reflux disease. They prescribed him medication that I was to give him 30 minutes before feeding and 30 minutes after. That was tough because he wouldn’t eat at the same time everyday. I was then told to give him Enfamil AR. Which was a thicker formula. It was hard to find so I was advised to add the rice cereal to his bottles to make the formula thicker so he could keep it down.
Have you held him while this is happening because maybe he seizing the first time my son had a seizure he was 3 weeks old and it wasn’t very noticeable seizing if I hadn’t been holding him I would not have known that it happened but immediately after he went completely limp he had stopped breathing and went limp and I rushed him to the hospital they could not figure out why it had happened he’s only three but he’s had a couple seizures and they still don’t know why it’s happening I’m so sorry you’re going through this I pray that they find answers soon
His now deliverd in Jesus mighty name Amene
It could be aspiration my son did that , after a speech therapist saw him do it she insisted on him getting a swallow study and allergy testing, sure enough he was aspirating everything and was allergic to milk ! We were sent to children’s hospital and they took great care of us ! But if she would not have noticed he would have died ( his lungs were full )
As you can see. You should get a second opinion with a different doctor. My opinion would be to write down every ones thoughts and have a doctor go over it with you.
Sounds more like pyloric stenosis to me. Alot of the time it looks like acid reflux but it is much more severe. Is it EVERY time he eats? If he’s consistently doing this, I’d be demanding a new doctor who takes this seriously and listens to what you tell them, and digs deeper to save that poor baby!
Yes my daughter had something exactly like this it’s called Sandifer’s Syndrome. Get a second opinion for sure!
Keep him upright don’t lay him flat or on his back. I had the same issue with my daughter till she was 5 months old and it went away on its own
They might be lactose intolerant my son was when he was born so I had to put him on special formula that didn’t have any dairy products in it
FPIES! It sounds exactly like fpies. It is possible to be fpies via breast milk, or fpies to formula even hypo allergenic formula.
Could be pyloric stenosis.
He could be allergic to the formula for the milk
My daughter was allergic to the milk
Medication doesn’t fix everything. If he’s eating breast milk you need to look at what in mama’s diet could be causing it. If he’s formula fed definitely change the formula. I made my diet completely bland and my son still had a reaction. We went through almost every type of formula before finding one he could tolerate.
Always burp the baby after feeding him or her all the best
Have them look into mitochondrial defects stat
I say have him checked for Pyloric Stenosis, my oldest son had it. He lost a pound and a half from his birth weight before he was diagnosed at 3 weeks. Tell them to get him in to a Pediatrician ASAP and have him checked.
My son did this and it was acid reflux. He had to eat sitting up and sleep either on his side or propped up at an angle, lot of sleepless nights
My son did this and once I cut out dairy from my diet he no longer has reflux. It was a night and day difference.
Maybe he is lactose intolerant. My daughter had the same issue.
I would have them check for pilot if stenosis… A harrowing of the pylori that should be wider. The pylori allow food to pass through to the intestines. The vomit from a baby will become projectile vomiting, not just the every day spit up. My neighbor’s twins were doing this and I checked in on them when my daughter was baby sitting. The babies started doing this and I knew exactly what it was. I told their parents about this and I was right! This can become an emergency situation and should be checked out if the baby has huge amounts of vomiting and the ejection of the vomit is forceful. Don’t wait! They can easily fix this!
My son did that it was because his hole to his stomach didn’t close to say he was full so he kept throwing up
Pyloric stenosis. My son had it.
Sounds like seizures to me. Ask for an eeg.
