I have to do the nonstress test I will be 32 weeks at that time and I was wondering how long will it be? Should I bring something to help me pass time? Can I eat while taking it? can I drink sugary things? Then they want to do a ultrasound afterwards is that normal?
My stress test was about 45 minutes of sitting on a nice large recliner while they monitored the baby’s heart rate. I honestly played on my phone the entire time.
They just hook you up to the heart monitor and watch to see if the babies heart rate drops or rises and if so they do an ultrasound to figure out why.
They gave me a paper of instructions to follow. Dm me if you want a pic.
Bring a snack and plenty to drink. Play on phone or read a book
These are questions for the nurse in the office
Mine was just 20 mins of my heart rate and babys heart rate
All depends how the baby is moving etc… they normally have to have a certain amount of movements within a certain time frame. I had them every week since like week 20 of my last pregnancy.
I’ve had an ultrasound followed by a non-stress test every Monday starting at 32w2d, I’m 38w2d today. The test is about 30 minutes. I’m not sure about saying and drinking during, I usually have something before it try to make sure baby is awake.
Mine lasted anywhere from 45 mins-2 hours and honestly I laid in that bed and slept it was so peaceful and I enjoyed just sleeping. Lol
I’m on my 2nd stress test I’m 40+5 and mine only takes about 20 mins
I’ve had NSTs twice a week since I was 28 weeks. They usually only last about 20 minutes. No need to bring anything because everytime you feel your baby move you have to press a button… at least that’s how they do it at my facility. Now if they send you off to a different office for “more testing”, that can last up to 2 hours. And don’t be scared if they send you for more testing… you might hear something about “abnormal baseline” or “drops”… don’t be alarmed by them… if they don’t seem too concerned then you shouldn’t be either… they’re just extra cautious. They should provide you with a drink… but you’re usually able to bring a water or a juice with you as well.
Mine were about an hour long and I’d just sit in my phone and watch stuff. I had to eat a cracker with peanut butter on it and then water but that’s all they’d have me eat and drink. And then they would do an ultrasound every other visit. I had to have 2-3 tests a week starting at 32weeks.
They don’t last too long. I wouldn’t think you’d need a snack and only drink water. Sometimes the energy from what we eat makes the baby move more than usual and they really need a baseline.
