So I’ll be 36 weeks on Tuesday and I have been diagnosed with preclamcia. The docs are talking about inducing me. I’m very nervous and scared. Any advice or suggestions on what’s going to happen and what I can expect. Thanks in advance!
Stay off your feet and dont let yourself get stressed just listen to the dr and you’ll be ok
Don’t stress. I was induced at 38 weeks. Just take it easy. I thought of it as I get it hold my baby sooner.
I had preeclampsia and had my son via csection at 32weeks 5 days. He weighed 3lbs 7oz. Only reason I had a c-section is because he was positioned transverse. When I got admitted the two days before he was born I had an iv started of magnesium and had it for 4 days. He just turned 1 on July 29th and is doing great. Good luck! You got this!
I was induced and it really wasn’t that bad it did take a while 29hrs but i only used tens and gas and air im the biggest wimp too x
Be glad they are watching you so closely. Preeclampsia can be very dangerous. My daughter’s first baby was born at 34 weeks for the same reason. They gave my daughter steroids for three days prior while in the hospital to help mature the baby’s lungs. Baby was born at four pounds with healthy lungs. She came home from the hospital at about ten days old. Her next baby was also born at 34 weeks, 5 lbs, no time for steroids, she was in the hospital for one month. Your baby is two weeks further along, so that’s good.
Its a long process ive bn induced with both my babies
Dont get you blood pressure up more then it is with emotions. I know that’s hard I had my daughter over a month early due to preeclampsia. There will mostly likely be a lot of swelling afterwards or at least there was for me but other then that its not to awful. They had me lay on my left side alot in the hospital and it does help some. Ice chips will be your best friend because once they start that is all you can have. I waited till the last minute to get an epidural and I think that helped alot with labor pains and the after pains but everyone is different on pain tolerance.
I was induced… went in at 6am, hooked up at 830ish, broke my water around 10-11, had a baby at 4! Contractions with pitocin was horrible in my opinion and I got an epidural.
I was in the same situation. But I also had a hemhorage/hematoma and placentaprevia. They admitted me afterwards and kept me in the hospital. Ask for the steroid shot it’s two parts. It will help the babies lungs develope all the way. They tried to induce me but my son’s heart rate dropped a bunch to 60 and 40 so they did a C-section an he went to the nicu. He weighed 3lbs 12 oz He only stayed for a week there. He had no major problems an was such a strong boy. All he had to do was have feeding tube and be in a incubator to hold his temperature. He’s now 7 months and going strong. You got this momma stay strong and relaxed. I know it may be a little worrie some and scary but at the end of the day just focus on meeting your sweet baby and holding an loving on it. That’s what got me through.
Had it with all three babies and was induced with the last two. No problems.
They induced me at 37 weeks because of my preeclampsia. Mine was soo bad that after I had the baby i had to stay in bed with the pumps on my legs to circulate the blood flow. I was also in the hospital for a week because of my blood pressure.
I was indiced twice tho. My first was just late and my blood pressure was a lil elevated. I was .2cm dilated and I had the baby a few hours later, it went so fast. The second time was because of my preeclampsia and I was already 2 cm dilated and the wait for babys arrival wasn’t to bad.
I would relax. Stressing over it will make your BP higher
Is it weird that I had high blood pressure at 37 weeks and my doctor gave me a csection that same day without inducing??
I was induced at 38 weeks. Had an epidural at 1cm. Honestly didn’t feel pain at all until an hour before i delivered. It can be a long process though. Took about 22 hours
with my second one they said i was borderline preeclamptic and had to go straight to the hospital…no bag packed nothing! Had a beautiful healthy baby girl…Just relax and try to remain calm, I know it’s easier said than done. I would be prepared by packing your hospital bag. Be happy they are watching you and that you have some warning…you’ll do great momma!!
I was induced at 38 weeks because of preeclampsia with my first pregnancy, they called me in to the labor ward early in the morning and I delivered her 7 hours after they started my labor. They broke my water with a tool that looked like an orange peeler. Water breaking feels super gross.
Babies are perfectly viable at 36 weeks, so no worries there.
C section is quick and painless (I was awake and numb for mine) and you get to hold your baby even sooner!
Two steroid shots several hours apart to mature lungs. Magnesium IV, possible blood pressure MEDS, take the epidural if induced. Baby may go with you or may need NICU for a week or so. May need CPAP/ surfactant or not. Girls sometimes do better than boys. If you have more questions, friend me, I’m a NICU NURSE.
