What is it like having a VBAC?

Hello again! New question, this is my second pregnancy after 3 years. I had a cesarean with my first. I would love to be able to do a VBAC this pregnancy. I have chose a dr that will allow me to as long as everything goes good with my pregnancy. What other advice can vbac moms give me to help with my chances of a successful vbac? Also, how do I nicely educate people who didn’t even know it was a thing, like my mother in law? I’ve told her what it’s called and shared articles on fb, but I’m not sure what else to say. She just keeps saying I will have to have another c section even though I’ve told her I specifically picked a dr who won’t force one.

P.s. the reason for my first cesarean was I was leaking amniotic fluid and my last dr didn’t want me to have a dry birth. I do not plan to be induced this pregnancy and I read that will help increase my chances of a vbac. Thanks everyone.

I haven’t gone to labor yet but coming from my moms experience she’s had 3 c-sections, the first one was an emergency and after that drs didn’t let her do Vaginal birth just bcs since her first pregnancy was basically a risk, they didn’t want anything to go wrong so they went ahead and did that. Hopefully this pregnancy for you goes smooth and are able to do Vaginal birth! GoodLuck with everything and tell your mother in law that doctors said there’s a chance you can go natural birth.

Most doctors will not induce after having a c section, even if they’d okayed a vbac. My first was a c section because my daughter was breech. My second I was planning on a vbac, but my blood pressure spiked horribly and my doctor sent me right to the hospital for a c section. Please do not get your mind completely set on a vbac.
As far as your MIL, just dont waste your breath. She will not understand it. Most people have no idea that it’s possible nowadays. Just say you trust your doctor.
