Why is my child sick every two weeks?

My youngest (5) is sick AGAIN. Every 2 weeks on the dot, he gets a cold. The last couple of times it has progressed to his eyes (he literally has boogers coming out of his eyes) and they’re very watery. He is acting totally fine other than the snot and a dry cough (negative for Covid). Is it normal for a cold to be in the eyes?? He has had pinkeye several times and this isn’t it. No redness or itching, just watery and boogery.

Seasonal allergies. Claritin or Zyrtec is great.

Could be clogged tear ducts

Sounds like allergies. I would try some daily allergy meds and go from there. This is the worst season. You can ask your pediatrician for an seasonal allergy panel to be ordered. Sadly, I have allergies in every season so it’s usually year around for me

I got STREP in my eyes & it was very painful! Take him to Dr

I got pretty bad sinus Infections in the spring and fall (allergy related) and it always resulted in yucky gunk coming out my eyes too lol

My daughter also… it’s been like this for months on end! Until we took her out of daycare last month & she hasnt been sick since!

Take him to a doctor. It’s all well and good to ask for advice on here but it’s his eyes I’d be asking a professional rather than Facebook. And no I’m not judging you and I’m sorry if it sounds that way

Could be conjunctivitis or blocked tear ducts
But if watering wouldn’t be blocked ducts

My kid needed tubes in his ears. Once that was sorted he never got sick ever again ( he was basically deaf prior to that but we had no idea no drs suggested it)

Try Honey!!! All natural, raw and unfiltered honey!! give him a tablespoon twice a day. Same thing with my son.

Allergies get my whole family sick every month. It’s just the season

Conjunctivitis is running rampant at the moment in the day care I’m working at.

Because after being locked away for over a year, our kids have zero immunity.

Pollen is horrible, Bath daily and keep sheets and bedding Clean. Get a Room purifier for bedrooms, and run them all the time. Use allergy meds. Good Luck!

I have it quite often. Mine is when snow mold is either coming or going. Check for allergies.

I would get him in to see a specialist asap if he is getting sick that often. Either it is allergies, something g going on with his sinuses or he has a compromised immune system would be my guesses.

I’d take him to his pediatrician. I’ve always used Claritin with my kiddos and it works great, no side effects either.

My children this year have been sick so much!! More then they have ever been!! Usually they’re sick once a year. Maybe twice at the most/ but now it’s like their sick again after they get better: now it’s been like 2-3 weeks and my 3 year old stil has a cough :disappointed: but no usually eyes mean eye infection

If he goes to school or daycare, he will always be sick. Kids are infested with germs.

Sounds like allergies, one of my kids gets the same and it ended up being bad seasonal allergies

Allergies not a cold

My son was like this and turned out he had really bad allergies and was allergic to quite a bit of stuff. He’s now on medicine for it.

Try giving him children’s Allegra or something for a few days see if that helps. All 4 of my kids have seasonal allergies

maybe see an immunology dr…

He is rubbing his nose then eyes causing conjunctivitis, if you do not take him to doctors and get antibiotics this will continue. Ensure his nutrition is on point.

Allergies, my poor kiddo keeps getting strep pretty much the same time frame. I’m definitely talking to doctor about removing his tonsils (this last time it’s 100 worse) total amount of times for this for this year is 7!

Could be chronic sinus too
But my kiddo he has thing thing called viral syndrome it messes with the immune system causes nasal issues too and coughs as well.
But makes every illness more catchable that’s all. But def maybe get him checked find out out for sure what’s going on.

It sounds more like allergies. This year has been especially bad for me. We’ve had lots of wind and until the last 5 or 6 days it was so very dry. My eyes and nose itched, I had a runny nose, sneezing and stuff in my eyes. Like others have said, take him to a doctor for allergies.

Conjunctivitis? My son had it when he had a URI.

Sounds like viral pink eye. It’s been going around with a virus.

Pretty much is allergies
Try to buy Claritin , Zyrtec of Allegra they are all OTC medicine for allergies and he will only have to take one daily, buy something like boraqua to wash his eyes , try this for a couple of days if he still the same you should take him to his doctor

Highly recommend taking every day: fresh squeezed lemon to cover bottom of mug/cup, tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with the mother, 1-2 approx tablespoons of raw pure honey to taste and very warm water but not boiling to fill cup. Also make sure hands and face washed right after school and change clothes. Bathe often as well. Make sure room is vented properly, not too cold or hot and air not blowing directly on child at night. In their room use a humidifier with distilled water. That should help, wish you and yours all the best!

L sounds like allergies

Benadryl lots of it he’ll feel better & sleep good :joy: lol I feel for ya Mama but it’s that time of year

It sounds like allergies. Take him to an allergist.

If they are in school it’s bound to happen

Allergies are your culprit.
Not addressing them will allow the sickness.
We went through that too.
:two_hearts:

Did you give him the vax? My vax absolutely yanked my immune system I never used to get sick and now I get sick all the time

Sounds like he’s allergic to something. Is there something that he gets exposed to that’s different every two weeks? Plant or animal? That could do it.

Could be chronic ear infections and allergies. Post nasal drip can cause the cough

Sounds like allergies

Take him to an allergist

When I get a bad sinus infection it affects my eyes like that.

Girl, he’s got allergies. They are the worst this year. Try some Claritin once a day. It works pretty good after about 24 hours

My son was doing that and we went to an allergy specialist and come to find out he’s allergic to grass trees and dust mites

I have to start my 4 year old on Allergies meds for this reason. It was constant

Allergy’s! Understand these are the years your child is developing their immune system. You are going to go through a tough couple of years. Hang in there!

Could be allergies or could he be exposed to mold? There’s tons of reasons, but nothing that anyone on FB could diagnose. “Pink eye” has 3 causes: viral, bacterial, and allergic. If he has allergies, that can cause conjunctivitis (pink eye)

This sounds much more like allergies than a cold

I have to agree, most likely allergies. But my son kept getting sick and when he was 8 we were referred to an orthodontist. The roof of his mouth was too high not allowing his sinuses to drain properly… after his expander and everything… he hasn’t had a reaction like this since! Better to ask your Dr about different things that can be done

Sounds like untreated allergies. Give them either Claritin or Zyrtec, wait and see if it helps and if it doesn’t switch to the other one.

It very easily could be allergies.
Especially if it’s happening so often.

I know in our area pollen counts are SUPER high. My kids and I have been “sick” off and on for weeks, with allergy symptoms/hay fever.

Definitely sounds like allergies. My son gets a cough, water eyes the sniffles etc

Allergy test after spring is over. I was sick every two weeks as a kid then mom took me for tonsils out & allergy testing. These things helped me feel much better

My child is currently going through this too. Her doctor told us it’s allergies.

Sounds like allergies. Take a teaspoon of local raw honey every day.

Wash his bedding and pillowcase more often get him tested for asthma and allergies are you changing detergents and soaps in the house in any way or shape or form

Allergies my kids does same this time of year

It could be allergies, but he could also have caught a draft that caused his cold, and it can make your eyes watery. Common with summertime due to AC

Give him c and d3-k2 daily. Also 1/2 tsp smart silver.
