please post anonymously. first off i know i should be asking a lawyer. anyone in here have plans of getting there SO there green card? i have wanted to apply for foodstamps but dont know if that will affect when we start the process for his green card.

Yes it can and you should be asking your lawyer.
With that being said, If you cannot show financial evidence that you can support your spouse in the US, you will need a cosponsor for their green card application. Immigration Paralegal here of 23 years. Talk to your lawyer.

It definitely can I recommend asking your lawyer. My sister just went through the process with my brother in law.
Soooo, your not married…or you wouldn’t be asking that question…no it won’t, go ahead and apply.
If you can’t afford food how you going to sponsor and support him
