A relative gifted me a vehicle, BUT I had to give them my old vehicle. They sold it and made their money back for the vehicle they gifted me. Now, a year later, they are saying that since they gifted me this vehicle, I am never allowed to sell it or trade it! Does this sound right or wrong to you? If I traded my old vehicle and they even got their money back by selling my old vehicle? They should not have a say in what I do with it now or in the future… right?

Is it a car of rarity or did it belong to your great great grandfather? If you can sell it for a upgrade and a better for you I don’t see anything wrong with it…

Is the car title in your name?.If so, you can do whatever you want.

if the title n registration is in YOUR name ONLY…theres nothing they can do about it since u are the LEGAL owner…Now if it’s registered n title is in their name…than that’s another story .

Depends on whose name is on the title. If it’s not in your name and you sell it, you’re looking at jail time. You may not have a choice if you don’t have the title or proof of the initial trade deal. Depends on your state property laws.

It’s your car now. You can do what you want with it. You did what is called and “even trade” so even in a court the judge would side with you.

Is the car in your name? If yes. It’s yours and you can do what you please with it.
They gifted you a car but took your old car?? That’s not a gift that’s an exchange of cars where’s the gift??? I fail to see this 
I assume they gave you it because you were in need. Maybe your old one was in bad shape etc etc and they wanted you to have something more safe, reliable etc. Do you know they got a even trade when they got the money. Was the money of your old car they got the same as the worth of the new car they gave you? If not and they didn’t get all their money back I can understand their wishes.
It is your vehicle to dying as you please. I hope the title is in your name.
If the title is in your name, it’s your car in the eyes of the law, and you can do what you want with it.
Not to mention, that “gift” came with the strings attached, of you giving them your old car in exchange for this car. They then sold your old car and recouped their money.
If they don’t want you to sell or trade it, offer to sell it back to them at fair market value and use that money to either purchase another vehicle or towards purchasing another vehicle.
They might have had plans for the car after your done driving it. At the same time if you want to jeopardize your relationship with a family member that gifted you something you needed, that’s on you. Legally…if the title is in your name then it’s yours and you may do you please.

It’s your car. They sold your other car. Do what u want with it. As long as the vehicle paperwork shows you are owner you should not have any legal trouble if you want to sell or trade it in. If your relatives are insistent that they want the car back tell them to give you the money for your other vehicle that they sold and then give them car back

If it is your name you can sell it
As long as it’s titled in your name you can do with it as you please.

If it was truly a gift they wouldn’t have stipulations. I’d suggest offering to sell it back to them then do what you want. There may be repercussions but again if it was a gift then they don’t have a say.

That is not even a gift if u had to give them ur old car. Definitely a trade so u can do as u please.
If that’s your only car then do what you want lol they shouldn’t have sold your car and kept the money but still tried calling the one you are stuck with a “gift”
Honey as long as it’s in your name you can do whatever you want with it and if you traded for it it’s yours
Give them the option to buy it back and if they don’t, do what u want.
