Have a look at BUMPS website it’s all about medication while pregnant.sorry can’t help any other way
Congratulations! I have crohns and had my beautiful baby boy in April, I had a happy pregnancy, a healthy baby boy and was completely supported by the Gasto team and midwifes. Listen to the drs and your body. Ring the consultants secretary and see if your able to to have a quick chat before having your next treatment.
I have crohns and just had twins last year. I don’t take medication for it , I control it with proper diet, but I was advised by my ob that if I chose to take medication for it that their is lots of choices safe for pregnant woman
I do not have Crohn’s but my sister does. She always went into remission when she was pregnant
I have colitis, pregnancy usually makes it better. But with both of mine, it made it worse & I had to be put on medication. For it. The doctors were surprised it made it worse it usually gets better during. My first was born 6 weeks early with my water breaking 8 weeks early. My second was 5 weeks early.
I have UC and I take Humira. Pregnant with my second baby but first since diagnosis. This pregnancy has been a lot harder on me than my first in every way- like every way. but the one thing I’ve had going for me is the Humira shot. I literally look forward to them because they make me feel so much better. The one issue I’ve had is I start having symptoms right before my next shot. Which go away a few days later after the shot. It’s like it runs out right before but I’ve seen a high risk ob my whole pregnancy and I’m 34 weeks and the baby has done really well. They worried about the third trimester with her but she has thrived. There are a lot of safe options for pregnancy but when it comes to your disease my doctor told me my GI doctor told me that it was his only job to keep me in remission and everything else is up to my OBs. I have been told by different doctors pregnancy can have a great effect on the bowel disease or it can make it worse. Or after delivery you can flare. I have 2. The High Risk and the one Delivering via induction in 5 weeks. Also, being sick with UC and pregnancy has made me depressed so I now take an antidepressant too. Also I’ve been depleted in all my vitamins so I’ve had to have them given in the ER and now I supplement them at home on top of my regular prenatals. But all in all. It’s been fine because they religiously check on my daughter snd her development in the womb and she’s always looked great. All the issues I’ve had were with me. There was never any issues with her. I did have to get the Rhogam shot at 19 weeks and again at 28 though. Due to spotting and a mini flare I went in after the first trimester. But we’ve made it to 34 weeks and I fully believe you’ll make it too congratulations and it’s a total journey and wishing you the BEST of luck! They will monitor you closely. Which is always good because you’ll see your baby more frequently. Or I have with this pregnancy saw her more than I did with my son and I was high risk with both for different reasons. Because I also have Pancreatitis since 2014.
The one thing I’ve noticed is I was the middle man between doctors but I ended up having to tell them to talk to each other because I am not the relay man. And I’ve had to take more charge during my care and really advocate for how I’ve been feeling and not let them tell me everything is fine when I was struggling really bad with contractions a few weeks ago. Which has now been better since magnesium supplements.
I have crohns also have a colostomy bag and am pregnant I take stelara and it’s safe during but this pregnancy I’m super sick acid is worse and I’m always nauseous and for the ones that say they think their meds run out it’s very possible I’m suppose to take shot every two months just got it approved for every 28 days as my system had none in it after two months
I went into remission with my pregnancies. All 3.
I have colitis and had 2 pregnancies. The first put me in complete remission and the second I had iron infusions, lost too much weight and stress tests pretty often. But I have 2 beautiful, healthy girls. I would call your gastro to at least try to talk to them before your treatment. Or you can call the manufacturer of the medication. They should have someone who can help you or point you in the direction of research about continuing the treatment while pregnant. Be sure to talk to your gastro about the effects after being pregnant. I had worse issues after pregnancy than while pregnant.
Don’t waste anymore time, get on the phone and call the nurse. Ask the nurse to repeat your question to the Dr. No point to waste anymore time. This is important and you need an answer now. Good luck.
Call your obgyn office and ask a nurse.
I have had Crohns since 2009. I also have Ulcerative Colitis on top of it. My diseases actually went into remission when I was pregnant with both of my kids. I ended up with gallbladder issues instead lol. I get the Remicade infusion every 8 weeks and my doctor had me stop before 30 weeks pregnant and didn’t resume it til after I gave birth. They say the treatment crosses over to the baby more in the 3rd trimester so they don’t like risking you getting it. Both of my children have sensory issues and my daughter is a little behind in some of her milestones but overall healthy kids. Not sure how much if that is just mine and their fathers genetics or issues from the remicade. All I can say is RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH! Doctors don’t tell you everything. 90% of everything I know about my diseases, I researched myself.
