Advice on baby led weaning?

My baby will be 6 months on the 29th, I’m interested in Baby Led Weaning but don’t know much about it. She doesn’t have any teeth yet so what would I be able to try? Also given the OK from pediatrician she started stage one at 5 months and seems pretty interested in food we’re eating. Thanks!

We started with avocado. It was a wonderful experience watching them learn.

We started with asparagus and harder foods that can be gummed. Once she learns how food feels in her mouth, she will start to chew. She doesn’t need teeth. Those foods she can bite down on without getting alot of little pieces off that could choke her will feel good on her gums as she teethes. Then move into proteins(eggs, meat) and vegetables. Save fruits for a bit. Within a month, shell understand how foods feel on the back of her tongue and start to push it forward to keep chewing until she can swallow it easily.

Yes! My daughter started with blw right off the bat at 6 months, and didn’t get her first tooth until 7 months, we did do purée on the first day because I was sooooo scared of choking but then switched to single veg and fruit, she’s now 12 months and a great eater :slightly_smiling_face:

Keep nursing as long as you both want to do it. Formula is expensive & regular milk is not recommended until age 1. Gradually skip some feedings .
