Advice on quitting vaping cold turkey?

Need some tips! I just found out I’m pregnant and I vape. I quit with my first and it was easy cause it made me so sick. This time I’m planning on quitting cold turkey tomorrow and I already know it’s going to be harder and I’ll definitely be in a bad mood. What are some tips to help get me through until this gets easier? I’m honestly almost hoping I just get sick again so it’s easier. I have no plans to pick it back up after giving birth so I need it to stick. Anonymous just cause I know people here and we aren’t announcing for a while

My brother quit by putting a rubber band on his wrist and when he got the urge he would snap it. Kind of a wake up call. I wish you the best!!

Chew game, find something to keep your hands busy. The biggest thing with vaping is using our hands I have noticed.

I quit smoking cigarettes during each of my pregnancies, This my 3rd, and I’m hoping to not go back this time.
Quitting wasn’t super hard, but the first two weeks I was definitely more on edge.
Just think about the baby, and how it’s not good for them, or you.

You got this!

Lord help her not desire this smoking. Allow her body strength and hr baby to be healthy!

I quit cold turkey when I would cough so much in the morning and almost get sick so I said this is it and haven’t had one for over 20 years.

I quit smoking cold turkey after my husband had a stroke. It’s been almost 18 years.

Your a great mama for giving it up for your baby.

Hard candy like Jolly Ranchers and sour gummies definitely helped me quit. Gave me the flavor and the oral fixation. Then the severe nausea hit and that cleared up any lingering cravings lol.

You don’t really want to quit, do it today, I quit smoking after 20+ years cold turkey, I decided I didn’t want to be a smoker anymore, threw away my last half pack of cigarettes, bought some spearmint, or cinnamon gum, and never smoked again, or had the desire to, it’s been over 20 years. I also lost over a hundred pounds!.

I took up embroidery. It helped me by keeping my hands busy. This was 53 years ago! I am a very fidgety person who colors complicated designs with colored pencils while watching TV because I cannot be still.

I’ve found its wayyyy harder to quit vaping than smoking. I quit smoking 6 years ago but have been struggling to quit vaping. Even the patches didn’t take the edge off.

Go for walks outside. Nature is therapy. Find a hobby to keep your hands busy. Peppermint candies/tea/gum also help with nicotine withdrawl and keep your mouth busy. Good luck!

I never vaped but smoked for 20 years and probably attempted quitting 5 times before it actually stuck. What helped the most for me was to identify my triggers and change my routines enough to disrupt them. I have heard that quitting vaping is much harder than cigarettes. So best of luck!

there’s an app “quit vaping” and it helped me soooo much! seeing your timer continue to go up is so motivating. you can chat with people and it helps you not feel alone

Chewing gum and candy, to keep hands busy I bought I deck of cards and would shuffle constantly and/or play solitaire

Healthy snacks can help fight cravings

Sunflower seeds , gum and hard candy and find something to keep you busy and keep your mind off of it

I quit cold turkey. I used sunflower seeds since they are low in Calories and eventually you don’t have to eat them as much but every time I got craving I would eat some! Also I was in a horrible mood for the first couple of months so I slept as much as I could to take off the edge as well

I am praying for you and your baby.Be strong my dear God is helping you.:pray:

My dr advised me to cut back gradually.
The nicotine is bad for birth weight.
However the physical stress your body endures cold turkey is worse.

Fidget toys, grab a hobby that will keep your mind engaged and your fingers busy, if you truly want to give it up forever get rid of everything and put that money into your new hobby or even just a jar. Even if your body craves it your brain will kick in and be like “oooo look at all that money” and you will get a dopamine release from the satiafaction.

Get sugar free suckers. I’ll bet money that it’s the hand to mouth you crave.

Snacks snacks and snacks I always had snacks on the counter or in the loungeroom or bedroom for me to just grab whenever I got the urge with my 4th vaping made me feel sick but I still needed something to suppress the urge

I LOADED UP on nerds clusters, dum dums, Twizzlers, etc. and I started baking . Because when I’m baking I can’t just walk away from it :joy: I was literally sending my wife to work with dozens of cookies and pies for her coworkers because I baked so much we couldn’t eat it fast enough. I want to TTC soon so im also in the process of trying to quit and this is going to be my approach again

Drinking through a straw.

Slowing lower ur nicotine until its zero and then slowly wean off that my Dr told me don’t quit to fast ot would stress the baby

A tip is it could do a lot of damage to your child, if that’s not a big enough tip idk what else to say

Oh please! Mind over matter! Just put it down and walk away, better yet throw it away! You got this. I was 66 and smoked my entire adult life. My husband got lung cancer followed by COPD. I put them down and never looked back, that was 5 years ago!

Get one with 0 nicotine…
You will be amazed how much you are programmed for the motions of vaping not the nicotine.

You’re not supposed to quit cold turkey because the withdrawals can put stress on the fetus.

Start by using it less or switching to juice that has less nicotine or none. Once your body starts to adjust to less it’ll be much easier.

I quit too and switched to Zyns and now I’m about to quit those too and it suuuucks. Hang in there.

Just stop, deal with the mood swings for a few days and then it’s all over :woman_shrugging:

When I quit smoking I cut down to 10 cigarettes from a pack or more then the next day 5, then I switched to a vape with level 3 nicotine for 10 days. Then switched to 0 nicotine. I just naturally stopped using it. I did carry it with me for years even tho I never used it like a security blanket lol. I found taking deep breaths and holding it like you would smoke or vape smoke would help. You take deeper breaths. I wasn’t pregnant when I switched to vape then quit, I was just getting life insurnace. When I was pregnant with my first I went from nearly 2 packs a day to 5 cigarettes and cut down one a day til 0 so I quit in 5 days. Again taking deep breathes helped whenever I thought I wanted a cigarette.

Talk to your doctor to come up with a realistic plan that will stick. Nice is one of the most addictive chemicals on earth, certainly the most addictive legal chemical. If you want to quit for your pregnancy and for good you need the help of your doctor. Vapibg isnt actually as bad for your baby as smoking but it’s still not good. You can always quit by tapering down over a month or 2. And don’t let anybody tell you you’re a bad mom or anything like that. No one starts vaping and thinks hey I’ll make this my forever. They target young kids because their brains are still developing and they made a tin of money by basically forcing Nicotine addiction on kids that had no real idea what they were doing. It’s one of the worst addictions a person can have. And that’d coming from someone (me) who was a heroin and Cocain addict for many years. I’ve never had an addiction as strong as Nicotine. But you can do it.

I was able to just quit bc I wanted what’s best for baby. Wasn’t hard the thought of vaping made me sick for a little bit helped lol

Found out I was pregnant a couple months ago and quit cold turkey. I was going crazy for a good couple weeks. Started eating everything in the house because I was bored lol it eventually faded and I am now perfectly fine without it. Just quit and push through! I always had a huge jug of water on me at all times also to help

Workout, walk…stay active. It really helps with the withdrawals. Im sure the sweat will also help the body get rid of the toxins faster. Channel those feelings into something else, don’t keep yourself stagnant. Stay strong and remember the hardest part will last for only 1-2wks.
