Am I in the wrong for not letting my spouse drive my car?

Do you guys think I’m wrong for not letting my significant other drive my car? I pay payments on it but he doesn’t help with it or my insurance. I told him I don’t want him driving my car do you think I’m wrong? When I didn’t have a car and he had his car before it broke down he let me drive it anytime … I feel bad about not letting him drive mines, he has no license, has history of accidents as well.

F that no license? That’s a hard no.

Nope. No license? Absolutely not

F that no license? That’s a hard no.

No license = no driving any car

No license = no driving. If he had a license then that would be different.

He doesn’t have a license ——that’s your answer!!!

No license? I wouldn’t let him either if he’s accident prone.

I agree with you only because he doesn’t have a license.

Absolutely not. No license means no driving. Period.

OK… if he doesn’t have a license he shouldn’t have been driving any car period!

No license, no keys. Period.

Honestly if he isn’t helping to pay for anything with the car, has no license and a bad driving history, I wouldn’t let him either. You shouldn’t feel bad for it. He’s made his decisions regarding driving in the past.

Nope. Don’t feel bad either. Especially if you’re responsible for all the maintenance and costs associated with your car. I am like this too with my vehicle :woman_shrugging:t4: but my reasons are I don’t like the way he drives -probably cause I am commercially licensed so a little picky lol

He has no license. Therefore if something happens while he is driving, your insurance probably won’t cover him. You are right to protect yourself here.

If he has no license, then no. He doesn’t need to be driving

No, I don’t want mine to drive my car either and he bought it!

No he has no license and your left with the responsibility and it isn’t worth it

He shouldn’t even ask to drive it without a license

Definitely not he hasn’t even got a license

With not having a license I wouldn’t let him drive it

Since he has no driver’s license and a history of accidents, I agree with you and would not let him drive. That is putting you at risk. If he got caught your car could be impounded or he could wreck it and both of those result in you paying money or not having a vehicle. Stay strong

If he doesn’t have a license, he shouldn’t drive it anyways.

Has no license?..then you are right to not let him drive.

Don’t feel bad at all!! No license = no driving. He wants to drive your car, get a license!! It’s really simple. Shame on him for asking after he was told NO the first time!!

You are not wrong only because he doesn’t have a license and history of accidents. It would all be on you if he had another one in your car.

So my husband is unlicensed as well. I only let him drive to and from work which is two blocks away. Maybe set a boundary like that? But you’re not wrong for being nervous or not wanting him to drive

If he ain’t got a license it’s illegal for you to knowingly let him drive it. If he gets a ticket they can ticket you as well, at least in my state that’s how it works. My sister let her husband drive on a suspended license and when he got a ticket they ticketed her as well. Luckily I was able to get her off but only on a technicality

He has no license! So no i wouldnt want him to drive. So solution i would have is helping/supporting him in obtaining his license.

Umm no you are well within your right not to let him… especially if he has no license… it’s your butt if he gets into an accident, you could lose everything and then some.

No license, No driving!!!

No license and history of driving absolutely not!!

Nope. No license, no insurance, bad driving history…. Absolutely should not drive your car.

No licence is your reason.

You aren’t wrong. If he were to drive and get into an accident your insurance may not cover it since he isn’t licensed.

He doesn’t have a license…he has no insurance…if you let him drive it and heaven forbid he hurts someone you’ll find yourself in a pile of trouble. Not sure why you even asked this question. It’s illegal for him to drive.

Don’t back down, especially if he has a history of accidents and no license. Don’t make your life difficult because you want to “help” him.

Nope. He’s got a lot of nerve to be bothered by it if he is :joy:

Him not having a license would be why he be told no if he got into a accident u be held accountable as well friend of my mom lost her license for long time cuz she let her bf use her car no license he got in a wreck n she lost her license over it n had pay a large amount money n carry a certain insurance over it. If he can’t help u keep car paid n up to date that a nope also. I’d tell him get his license back n his own car or help with the bills before he drove urs.

Well 1st of all, the question should be am I wrong to not let my husband drive our car. Youvare married and its as much his car as it is yours. However if he has no license then no he should not be driving.

I’m just curious as to why he doesn’t have his license anymore lol.
It would be a no either way.

Honestly, everything you wrote before the words “he has no license” is irrelevant. He should not even be asking to drive your car.

No don’t feel bad, I think it’s a valid excuse to not want someone driving your car, last thing you need is to lose what you pay and work hard for… he already doesn’t have his… long run if y’all don’t stay together it effects you.

If he has no license that means he would also be uninsured so two big NOs right there.

Nope not wrong at all. No license no driving period.

If he has no license then no, he shouldn’t drive your car. Would really impact your insurance if something did happen. I would stand your ground, no license then no driving :woman_shrugging:t2:

If he has a bad track record no! Which sounds like he does. It was nice of him to help you, but you don’t need to have his poor driving record added to your clean record!!

Easy answer. No licence no drive. You won’t be insured

Well I’d say that’s absolutely crazy not to let him. But the last sentence is a absolutely a big no

Definitely not wrong. If he gets caught and your car impounded, then what? Not wrong at all.

Sounds like you need a new spouse :see_no_evil:

If he dont have a license and gets into an accident the insurance company will not pay out. At least mine wont

If he has no licence then definitely not driving my car

No if he has no license or insurance what would happen if he had a accident think about it

I would absolutely not let him for the simple fact that he doesn’t have a license. You’d definitely hate to have him get pulled over or in an accident driving your car with no license and your car can get wrecked or get towed to an impound lot :grimacing: Your insurance won’t cover your vehicle if something happens with him not having a license (and it might not anyways if he is not listed as a driver too)

No one can drive without license

no license could get your car repoed , so you have the right to say no

If he doesn’t have a license then he shouldn’t be driving ANY car, problem solved.

If he doesn’t have a license, he shouldn’t be driving anything.

If he doesn’t have a license and there’s an accident, you are responsible so I would say you’re justified.

Even with a license I wouldnt let a man drive my car  I learned my lesson

My partner pays for my car and has a full license (I’m on a restricted, this is how license work in my country) and I only let him drive when I am in it. So nope I believe you are using your senses

Definitely not, especially without a license!

First clue to not allow it, he has no license and you will be in trouble and could lose insurance

nope… your car, your reasons, your rules…

No license, no driving. Period.

I would let him WHEN he gets a license.

Nobody drives my car but me and he doesn’t have a license no way would I let him drive my car

All you had to say is he doesn’t have a license.

He has no license… so no you aren’t wrong.

If he has no license and no insurance AND a history of accidents… that’s just a huge risk.

If he had a license then this would be a different story but he’s a risk. If he gets in a accident then you both have nothing.

It’s your car, your responsibility. It doesn’t matter that he let you use his. That doesn’t mean you have to make the same decision. With him not having a DL now way I’d let him drive it. If he gets into an accident you will face charges for allowing an unlicenced person to drive it. Your insurance won’t cover him either. He’s expecting too much.

Without a driver’s license, no. Don’t touch. Otherwise, what’s mine is yours babe.

Do not feel bad about it. I bought my car new in 05. It’s an 06 with 250000 miles. And still dependable. My husband drove the one I had when we got married. He smoked in it, took it no telling where now that I know more. He’s went thru so many vehicles because he will loan his out, they have been impounded bc driver was arrested, junks them up. Take care of your car, it will take care of you.

No license?? No way… you can lose your insurance allowing an unlicensed driver to drive your auto!!! Head over heart on this one sweetie…

If he has no licence then no he can’t drive it as that would be illegal and you would both be in trouble if he was to get caught once he gets his licence then you can talk about him driving it and him maybe helping paying towards the car in someway later on when he gets it but until then deffo a big no no

I believe you have your answer…
AND it’s the best solution for you both. Tell him he can drive your car when he gets a license and has no driving issues for 6 months AFTER he gets a license.

He has no license, no you’re not wrong.

Girl… HE HAS NOT GOT A LICENSE
don’t be a fool… no! You’re not being unreasonable love

He’d be driving illegally so no , definitely would not feel bad

Very weird. But if he has no license no he shouldn’t be driving but how did he have his own car before then?

Girl you’re crazy if you do ain’t no damn way

Don’t let him. He has no licence, that’s enough of a reason. If he has an accident, you might also be liable for letting him drive it.
