Am I wrong to think I shouldn't have gotten my period

Okay so I am almost 3 months pp I am breastfeeding/pumping and I have an iud. I thought I was in the clear for never having a period for the next 5 years…. Please tell me why I got my period already? I know everyone is different but between breastfeeding and then the iud I thought I wouldn’t get one for awhile

With iud it takes your body little while to adjust just give it time I know when I first got mine I had period and after having it over 2 years now I don’t

I had 14 day long periods each month for 6 years with my iud it’s not a guarantee

I didn’t have an IUD but I did nexaplanon first pregnancy and BC pills second pregnancy and both babies were breastfed and I still got my period every so often. Every body takes it differently. It may take some time to adjust to the IUD

What? 5 years? I got my period back right away. I don’t think there is a answer. Even with breast feeding you can get your period or get pregnant. If you are concerned please talk to your obgyn.

Birth control does not guarantee that you won’t have a period. Neither does breastfeeding.

I got IUD bled for 6 months straight. You can still get period with them and same with breastfeeding. Breastfeeding never stopped my period and I have 3 kids.

I had my period almost immediately, with an iud and breastfeeding. I knew there was no guarantee, so I never actually believed I wouldn’t get it. I had the iud for years and got my period every single month.

Everyone different. I had merena bled heavy irregular still. To point fell out and I’ve now a 8wk old

You know it’s super unhealthy to stop your own period even “medically” it’s a natural way for your body to flush out old blood and tissue it doesn’t need other then releasing your egg… I have 4 kids… been done for 10 years… I hate my period too but it is a healthy process of your body.

Pretty sure the only way to not have a period is if you have a hysterectomy and alllllll your reproductive organs are removed? I’ve never ever heard “5 years without a period” because of BF and BC. I’d honestly be concerned if you didn’t get one eventually.

Breastfeeding doesn’t stop a period. And that’s also super gross & unhealthy to not have one

I’ve had an IUD for 8 years and have always had a period with it. Might lighter but I always got one.

Breastfeeding doesnt stop it and neither does birth control.

Yeah everyone’s very very different. It’s really down to hormones. I had an IUD and had I’ve tried the arm implant and BOTH things made my periods a living hell. Heavier bleeding, worse cramps etc. And BF didn’t phase me one bit. Even if one is these things does stop your period, it’s often not healthy and when the period returns it’s often BRUTAL. I understand periods are a pain but if you don’t want it anymore that’s something to discuss with your Dr.

Breast feeding doesn’t stop your period . Only certain hormones can stop a period and IUD isn’t one of them
