The rising cost of living is making it really difficult to get by on a single income. My savings are depleting quickly due to constant expenses, and even with a full-time job, I’m struggling to make ends meet. On top of that, I’m going through a divorce, which has added even more stress to the situation. I’m trying to stay hopeful, but I could really use some advice on how to boost my income during this challenging time. Any suggestions or support would be greatly appreciated.
Drive for Uber & Lyft? Rent a room?
Use LEDs; more expensive short term, save on electricity long term. Let dishes in dishwasher air dry & air dry clothes instead of using the dryer—both are energy hogs. Saves on electricity.
Meat is expensive. Use it more like a garnish and make more vegetarian/vegan meals. Try recipes with tofu—cheap & organic—like using it to make cream soup, adding some to hamburger dishes, putting in soups or stews to add protein. Eat out as little as possible. Cook from scratch: homemade pie or cake from scratch or box mix is cheaper than store bought and doesn’t take much effort or time. Toss leftover meats & vegetables in broth or bouillon and make soup.
If you aren’t an oenophile, ALDI has drinkable Winking Owl wines for $5 or less. Take advantage of happy hour deals on appetizers or entrees. Some grocery stores have $5 specials on weekdays. Seek out free entertainment and other free programs. Cancel extra TV packages and spend more time in nature. Learn new skills on You Tube and make the case for a promotion and raise at work.
Find a new man with more money… boom problem solved
You could do a little side job. Not many child cares are open past 5. You could get your cpr/first aide and watch a couple kids in the evening. Have whomever pay in a advance for that week…so there isn’t any problems.
Could do a laundry service…
Donate plasma. You can usually donate twice a week and it pays pretty good. I know several moms that do it to get by.
Yup my rent increased from $1400 to $2000 this yr, does not include utilities alone and other bills. Owners and property managers should have limitations on how much the my increase their rents on ppl who r not getting raises at work.
Luckily I have aftercare to help. But if its not one thing it is another.
Side hustles for me are amazon flex, door dash, couple apps for my receipts to get gift cards back. Their is positions to walk dogs, clean, nanny work, write letters for attorneys etc good luck
Cut any not essential stuffs , check if you might qualify for any government assistance like food stamps.
If your mortgage / rent in to high try to move for a place more affordable.
A second job that will not require you to hire a sitter to watch your kids ( can be babysitting at your place )

Waitressing if your spouse is going to have your kids any days
