did anybody else’s nurse push down on their stomach after c section ??? Is that even allowed?
I’ve had 4 c sections and they did the fundal massage every time.
Yep! A month ago and as painful as it is, it is also necessary! That pain will go away soon enough!
Yes. One of my c sections they didn’t do it and I passed the largest blood clot I’ve ever seen and almost hemorrhaged as well. I know it’s painful but well worth it in the end
Definitely aloud and absolutely necessary it’s a fundal massage, it makes sure your uterus is not too soft and contracts properly, if soft or doesnt go down it can be sign of hemorrhage and can be very dangerous.
Yes they do, even if you had a natural birth they also do it too.
Yes both of my c sections, it hurts but helps everything get back to normal
Yes they have to do it to check your uterus
Yes n I had 3 csections.its not that bad
I’ve had 4 C-section and they told me it’s to help prevent clots
I’ve had 2 c-sections. They did it each time. I know it hurts, but it’s normal
Yes, standard practice, I had 3 emergency sections and had this each time x
Yes I’m pretty sure its just part of what they need to do. I think it happens pretty much every time they do a csection
When I had mine, they had me roll to one side and then pushed on it. Hurt bad
It’s a standard of practice. However, your nurse should have told you what she/he was doing. You can address this with your nurse.
Yes every natural birth they have. Is check all inside is feeling as should
3 C-sections yes its normal. Helps with bowel movements, and makes sure your not bleeding too much.
Yes, for both of my C-sections.
I’ve had two c-sections - each in a different state and neither of those did any nurse do that to me pretty sure if they did, they’d gotten slapped
Had 2 csections and they did this both times. They are massaging your uterus.
Every time. They check that the uterus is going down to place and sometimes they watch between the legs too to make sure you’re not bleeding as they push. I’ve had 4 c sections
Yes! I had it with both my c sections … !!!
I’m the odd ball. I had 2 csections and they didn’t do this with me.
Yes, with all 4 of my c sections.
Yes it’s to help you womb contract back down
Yep had one about 10 days ago, and they were pushing down to make sure everything was going back to where it was
They “pumped” on my stomach every two hours for over 24 hours on my first C-section and it was absolutely the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. On my second C-section, she stuck her finger in my belly button and pushed my stomach in one time and was done.
Yes. They shouldn’t do it right on your incision, but they’re trying to prevent blood clots baby girl. You’ll be okay
They do this with natural birth as well. I had 3 natural births and they pushed on my belly every time. A few times each actually
All I remember is taking myself to the shower and my dr being big mad lol
Yes it’s called a fundal massage, and it’s absolutely necessary. Sometimes it sucks, but it prevents major complications.
Yes! It’s totally normal and actually encouraged to help the uterus contract to prevent postpartum hemorrhages. Not just for C-sections, vaginal births too. Just a small step that goes a long way to prevent a major complication. Also I’d encourage that if you have any questions, ask the nurses directly. Part of their job is patient education.
I never got that done when I had my csection
Yes…both of mine. Not only is it allowed…some places it’s mandatory
Massage the uterus important must stay firm or it will bleed!
Oh hun… It happens c section or vaginally and it hurts sooooo bad but it’s sadly completely normal and needed
Yes and they do it to help shrink the uterus and pushes out excess blood. Thankfully my nurses never did it as hard as after my vaginals. After my 5th baby i had a nurse push so hard i had bruises.
Yes my first they did this
They also do this to help the placenta move out of your unterus … I didn’t enjoy it either … they don’t usually explain what thier doing … in my experience
Yes - it’s to promote uterine contraction so prevents post partum hemorrhage. It’s “allowed” and part of proper post partum care.
They did it with all my babies. I had 4, only one c section and i was in a medically induced coma type state right before i had the baby so i wasn’t awake, but its to make sure u dont hemorrhage
Yes, they have to, it’s to check and make sure your uterus is going back down in size. My nurses always told me before they were going to push down.
She she/would have told you what she was doing & why.
Yes it’s allowed and normal.
It’s a little painful but normal.
Yes its normal after every birth and yes you can decline them doing it. People don’t realize that you can decline pretty much everything.
I have had 6 c-sections and they did that to me
At what point ?
To examine me the day after & each day for about a week yes , but not on the actual day
Had 4 c sections and yes with each one.
It’s called fundal massage and yes. They do it to make sure your uterus is contracting.
Yes they do it after vaginal delivery as well.
Yes it happened to me 30 years ago when I had my son by c section. They need to make sure the uterus is going into place.
They do it with vaginal deliveries too, but they only did it once to me. Was very uncomfortable, can’t imagine how it feels after a C.
I didn’t have a chance section bit I had placenta accreta with my first. My doctor had to use his hands to manually remove my placenta from my uterus and after all was said and done they had to put a weight on my belly to help stop the bleeding. When the nurses came in they’d take the weight off and push on my belly and dear God it is one of the worst pains I’ve ever felt in my entire life (and this is after the worst pain in my life). God awful so I can only imagine them doing it after a c-section. It shouldnt be allowed .
Nope. No one ever touched me or pushed on me after mine. But mine was a premature delivery, 31 weeks, no labor no birth so that’s probably why
I’ve had 5 and they performed fundal massages and checked for uterine shrinkage repeatedly until discharged
Yes ,both times. So painful
l had that to get the clots moving !
Uterine massage? They do that with vaginal deliveries too.
Yes and I hated it. After my first baby those massages were worse than with my second. Was so painful I ended up asking them to not do it so they just did it very gently. Was horrible.
Yes. Now get over yourself.
No and I would have knock the nurse out if they ever did
Ummm… yes. C section and natural birth they do it.
Never happened to me either time
Yes they have to to get your bowels moving again. It’s so painful
Yes both times it’s normal. Everything to do with a c section sucks!
Had 2 sections and never had this done to me
Yes both C-sections for me, started in the OR to help remove placenta etc and then continues after moved to room to prevent hemorrhaging
Yes. It’s to see if your passing clots and how much and there is also another reason to it to but I can’t remeber it.
They do it no matter what whether you have baby by c section or vaginally , it’s to make sure your uterus is healing properly it’s a fundal massage, definitely hurts but it’s important.
Yes, with all 5 c sections. I hated it so much but it has to be done.
Yup … totally normal… sometimes hurts but it’s needed
Yes it’s for the fundas… doesn’t feel great but has to be done…
yes with all 3 but it took until c-section number 3 before I had a nurse basically touch my spine with her fist from pushing on my belly. I almost cried. I’m pretty sure I wanted to cry
Yes both times. It’s necessary.
Yes. They are suppose to.
They do this after natural childbirth too
Like during recovery? I don’t really remember much for a few hours after my C-section. I remember the procedure almost perfect. But the aftermath is kinda a blur. I just remember not being able to breathe, like I was suffocating, vomiting & my baby. Is that normal?
There is so much information on fundal massage. It’s part of a nurses training for labor and delivery.
Yes I had a c section they wanted to make sure I wasn’t clotting. Painful
Yes. It sucked but they have to.
That was the worst part of the whole c-section
