Have anyone ever hid a pregnancy and how was you able to hide your belly ? I am 6 months and just now showing and I need to hide it. My first job doesn’t know I’m pregnant and I wanted to wait another month until I tell them so I won’t lose the job just yet. I only been working here for almost 2 months and didn’t disclose I was pregnant because when I would to other jobs they wouldn’t hire me and me and my son are homeless so I need this money. I don’t know how to hide a belly safely. * I WORK IN THE MEDICAL FEILD SO I HAVE TO WEAR SCRUBS***
No job should discriminate on a woman whom is expecting. But I totally get where you’re coming from. I didn’t tell my job either when I had my interview pregnant with my first child. Maybe do like oversized scrubs if you have to wear scrubs or also possibly a scrub jacket to wear over your scrubs depending on the temperature where you work. I wish you the best of luck and prayers your way for your situation! I too am pregnant. 29 weeks tomorrow. Struggling with being happy about it but nothing I can really do to change it. Anywho many blessings to you and your growing family!
WOW!!! That’s all l can say
It’s against the law to be fired because you are pregnant
Well you cannot be fired because you’re pregnant, and I don’t think they can even ask you if you are pregnant. I understand this fear though, get scrubs that are to big.
They can’t fire you because your pregnant, but they could not allow the leave or you and the baby to be on insurance because you haven’t been there long enough. Talk to someone either your boss, the hospital/doctor office attorney.
They can’t fire you. You will get the time off, but not paid to recover.
Wear a jacket over your scrubs. Just be careful and don’t put yourself in harms way. Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck to you and your little family.
They can’t fire you for being pregnant. It’s against the law.
Take FMLA at the birth. They must keep your job open but do not need to pay you. If by the time you deliver you have accrued sick time you can take that plus the amount of time needed up to 12 weeks unpaid. You don’t need to take all 12 weeks either. Just wear big scrubs do your work and prior to delivery notify HR you will be going out on FMLA and your dr will send necessary documents.
Wait… What? Umm… Why do you think you would lose your job because you’re pregnant? What kind of a place makes you feel like that? I understand needing a job. But not at the risk of my unborn child.
Once they are notified of your pregnancy they cant fire you
To be eligible for Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave in Florida, employees must meet the following requirements:
Employer type
The employer must be covered under the FMLA, which includes private-sector employers with at least 50 employees, public agencies, and local educational agencies. Small businesses with fewer than 50 employees are not required to provide FMLA leave.
Employment history
The employee must have worked for the employer for at least 12 months, regardless of whether the months are consecutive.
Hours worked
The employee must have worked at least 1,250 hours in the 12 months before the start of their leave. This is roughly 25 hours per week.
Location
The employee must work at a location where the employer has at least 50 employees within 75 miles.
I did I just wore giant hoodies all the time
They can’t fire you for being pregnant.
Ma’am, you are a liability and you knowingly lied.
In some states they can fire you for lying upon employemt.
You need to tell somebody. If you get hurt or anything happens, they can choose not to cover you and be legally right.
I do get it but you open yourself to ramifications by lying.
Wear loose scrubs. Jacket also. You need to know the policy for leave, also how your work schedule can be adjusted
It may be against the law…especially in Healthcare field…employers don’t usually discriminate…there are laws to protect you.
Cindy Sue
They cannot fire you just for being pregnant. However if you cannot do your job they can. And if you were to get hurt or endanger your baby and they didn’t know you were pregnant you’re liable not them
I would just say I just found out I’m pregnant and I’m 6 months it was such a surprise
If you work in the medical field get a scrub jacket and just go up a size so they can’t see!!!
I’ll be a different voice here, as I once worked in Healthcare too, for nearly a decade. For everyone saying they can’t fire you because you are pregnant, I mean that is true. HOWEVER, they can find a way to fire you that isn’t related to your pregnant if they really want you gone due to you being pregnant. It happened to me. I was pregnant and high risk. I had saved up weeks and weeks of vacation time to add to my maternity leave and FMLA. I was a manager and good at my job. It had been rumored they let people go in upper management a lot but no one knew exactly why. I found out the hard way by being let go randomly due to a ‘lay off’ that only affected my position. I couldn’t cash out any of my vacation time and I even applied for unemployment which I got paid for but it took over a year for that to come in due to Covid. Just use caution on how you go about telling them because you will need to sooner or later. I would literally claim you just found out. Some places are just down right dirty, be careful and good luck girl. Baggy much larger sized scrub tops might help, depending on how much you are showing.
Everyone saying they can’t fire you for being pregnant. While u are telling the truth on that don’t mean the job can’t make up a reason why just to cover their a** just saying……
My question is: have you sought out some place for you and your son to be safe and housed? Working two jobs is stress enough for you and your family. Who does childcare? Does the department of Social and Health Services know your situation? Is your son school age? Have you applied for help or medical help?
Isn’t it against the law to fire someone over pregnancy lol
Pregnancy falls under short term disability meaning you can not be fired for being pregnant fyi
Baggy scrubs and a jacket. I worked until I was 8 1/2 months and most ppl were surprised when I told them I was pregnant because I “didn’t look pregnant”
That’s discrimination they can’t do that
just say you didn’t know you were pregnant it happens more often than you’d think I mean they made a whole show about it lol
isn’t it illegal for jobs to discriminate against someone who is pregnant?
Don’t hide it, most jobs in the medical field cannot discriminate for pregnancy and many of them give you paid maternity leave or at least some sort of disability program that will pay you something while you are off. I didn’t find out I was pregnant til I was almost 16 weeks. You could definitely tell them now and say you just found out. I would hope you wouldn’t be terminated for such a thing! Best of luck to you.
How long do you have to be employed to qualify for leave?
I was never able to hide any of my pregnancies because I got really sick right away and up until month 6 lol.
When I was 16 I hid it from my family for almost 8 months and my mom was an RN. I was pretty skinny but would wear jackets or try to cover my stomach . They only found out cause I threw up randomly and put it together. You can only hide it for so long but just say it was a suprize
A friend of mine found out she was pregnant at 6 months. It’s plausible to say you just found out.
Just start buying packs of donuts and say your so hungry
