Anyone give birth to a big baby?

Had my 34 week 3 day ultrasound yesterday and baby girl is already measuring at 6 lbs 6 oz!! Her sister didn’t weigh that much til her 36 week ultrasound and she was born weighing 7 lbs 13 Oz so the idea of going to my due date with this one scares me. My mom had a couple of 10 lb babies but she was a lot taller and durable than I am so I’m not trying to do that myself. I know at this point they gain about an ounce a day and I checked and that’ll put her at almost 9 lbs on my date date!! I know these ultrasounds aren’t 100% accurate and could be wrong but since it was so close with my first daughter, I’m just worried about biting off more than I can chew in that delivery room. Anyone else have a baby weigh this much so early? Good thing is I haven’t gained weighed in the last 3 weeks so she’s gaining it all for me thank God but I’m hoping she’ll come a couple weeks early if possible to avoid any bad tearing or anything.

They gain approximately 1/2 pound a week now so baby could very well be 8 plus

Mine did and came out 9lbs, 8oz.

Just estimate. My last was predicted 11 lb was induced 37 week he was 7 lb 10 5

My daughter was 9lbs 6oz. Both my boys were over 8lbs by ozs.
Mine were also measuring larger on ultrasounds- so they started preparing me early haha

With my youngest they said at my 34 weeks he was 9lbs I was having a scheduled c-section already. Anyways fast forward to my 39 week scheduled section he was born weighed 7lbs 4oz 19 1/4in

My son was a big baby he was 10lbs 12oz …he did measure big. You will be ok!

One of mine was 8 lbs 9oz……I don’t think stressing about this is going to help or change anything. Prepare for the worst hope for the best! It’s not like u have a choices. L and D is so different for everyone and soooo unpredictable.

They say the more babies you have, usually the more that they weigh so you could easily have an 8lb+ baby. The ultrasound weight is just an estimate and isn’t always accurate. The final ultrasound I had with my daughters the day i delivered they were estimated to be 5lbers… but they were 7lbs 6.1oz and 7lbs 9.1oz. I know someone whose baby was estimated to be 8 lbs but was a 6lber. Try to not stress too much about it. Even if you do have a bigger baby, they might be an easier delivery than with a smaller one!

My 2nd was 9lbs on the dot, pushed him out in a matter of a few minutes, 3rd was just a few oz shy of 9lbs and he barely needed any pushing, doctor barely had time to catch him. They did a growth scan on my 3rd around the same time and said he was already measuring large and there was a chance of him being 10+ by birth. They’re notorious for being off in either direction, but always seems that they measure larger than what they really are. Don’t let it worry you.

My ex MIL had 3 babies. One was 7lb (boy born 37wks), 6lb (girl born 37.5 wks) and then 10.5lb (boy born at 34wks because there was almost no amniotic fluid left). And my son was almost 8lbs and 22 inches long

About 2 weeks before my due date they told me last one weighed about 5.5 and when she was born she was 8.10 she was last and final baby I told my husband and mom I wasn’t pushing out a 9 lb baby and because of that ultrasound I thought I wasn’t until they told me I pretty much pushed out a 9 lb baby. But ultrasounds are way off more often than not.

I’m 5’5". I gave birth to 8.13 as my first baby and my 2nd was 10.4…my mom joked that I gave birth to a 3 month old.

They kept telling me my daughter was going be a big baby. She was 7lbs

10 & 11 lbs my first son was 10lbs 21 in long my 2nd was 11 lbs 24 in

My son came out 8lbs 12oz (born 38w3d) . I needed 2 stitches. I’m 5’2” 115 (was 170lbs at birth)

My friend who’s like an inch taller had small babies in the 6lbs range and required WAY more stitches .

I wouldnt worry or stress too much about the size honestly

The last ultrasound I had for my 2nd guessed him at almost 10lbs. He was the biggest of my 3 at 8lb 13.5oz

My first born was 8 lbs 7.6 oz. At our last ultrasound they said he was measuring 7 lbs and some odd oz. I then went on to have a 7 lbs 6 oz son, 7 lbs 13 oz son, and 6 lbs 2 oz daughter. My daughter had to be taken emergency C-section due to being breech, the boys were all natural no pain meds, my oldest they didn’t even have time to get an IV in me before I was pushing. Of all 3 natural flavors my oldest/biggest was honestly the easiest/least painful. The 2nd born/smallest of the 3 boys at 7 lbs 6 oz was hardest/most painful.

My first was 7lb 14oz I tore my 2md was 8lb 8oz and no tears. My last baby was an unplanned unassisted home borth weighing 8lb 6oz no tears. I’m 5ft 7in and 150lb so I’m not a big woman. Your size has no determination on the size of baby you can birth. I was 9lb and my mom is an inch shorter than me and was 20lbs lighter AND she was 16😅 unmedicated vaginal delivery

I’m 5’1" and my last baby was 9 lbs 1 oz. O tearing natural birth. My babies are normally 8 lbs or less so it was a noticeably size difference but doable

All 3 of my babies measured big at my scans were only 5-6lbs each. They are not super accurate

My youngest was 9 lbs 1/2 oz
14 inch head and 16 inch shoulder to shoulder. Needless to say he got stuck.

I was told as well my baby would be close to 10lbs, the doctor chose to deliver him early, they said there was no way I could birth him at full term

At my 32 week appointment my son was almost 6 lbs. They did another unltrasound at 36 weeks and hes almost 8 lbs. They are inducing me friday cause hes meaduring 4 weeks agead and is a big kid. They dont want him getting stuck like his older brother did 4 years ago.

I had a 10 pound baby at 38 weeks and wished they had done a c section. Talk to your Dr about being induced early

9 lb 14 oz, 9 lb 7 oz, 9 lb

Had a 9lb 11oz girl at 39 weeks. 21 inches long. She wore 3-6 month clothes home from the hospital! I had her vaginal and had some tearing but once they broke my water there was meconium so they just wanted her born quickly. I arrived at the hospital 9 cm dilated after only 45 minutes of labor. Crazy fast! Had her an hour and a half after arriving at the hospital!

1st was 8.4
2nd was 9
3rd was 9.3

1st broke me, 4.5 hours of active pushing and then suction to get him out (he was sunny side up)

2 was normal 1.5 hours of pushing

3 practically fell out :joy:, 3 pushes

My first baby was 10lbs. My second was 9lbs 7 oz. I was induced with both of them. My first at 41weeks and my second 2 days before her due date. I tore and had an episiotomy with my first but no tearing or any complications with my second.

My due week actually past due my middle daughter was 8lbs and whatever oz was my other 2 the oldest and youngest was 7lbpounders. And when my mom had me I was I guess over 10 lbs.

My daughter had a 10 lb 2 oz baby, told her her was already over 3 lbs at 30 weeks

I’m 5’2 and my kids were 8lb 13oz, 9 lb 3oz and 10lb 3oz. I did require one c section because of complications unrelated to her size. With my 10lb baby they induced me because ultrasound said she was 13 lbs… it was way off lol

Get checked for gestational diabetes. I was 5’3, 110 lbs and my first baby was 8 lb. 13 oz. and I had GD. Vaginal delivery (I was surprised about that since I looked like I’d swallowed a torpedo) with epidural and very sore after. Changed my diet and no GD with my second, but she was a fairly big 8 lbs 4 oz. vaginal delivery, no drugs. Much quicker recovery and not much pain.

I wouldn’t go by there estimates really my 1st they told me he was gonna be a 10lb baby he was born 6lb 7 ounces 2nd born also said he measuring bigger than usual and he was born 6lb 1 ounce

I had an ultrasound at 37 weeks, they said I was going to have a small baby 6-7lbs (my other babies were born 9lbs+) my son was born at 39 weeks an 9lbs ultrasound are inaccurate for weight.

I was told my son was out for 3-4 pounds at my s
Ultrasound he was 7pound 9 when he arrived a week later

My first baby was 11 pounds 5 ounces and while I did tear a little, it was not a big deal and healed well. However, I gave birth in water and that is proven to reduce tearing. He always measured big on all scans but we definitely weren’t thinking over 11 pounds! Totally doable so please don’t worry too much, your body can do it!

My four pound baby did way more damage than my almost seven pound baby :woman_shrugging: I’m just saying

Don’t always trust the size. They told be when they induced me at 37 weeks for both baby’s to be ready for a premie. Both came out 6pounds exactly perfectly healthy ready to go home. Not nl 4 to 5 pound baby like they were saying. Honestly just wait til day of. As long as he/she is 6 pounds just be happy it’s a healthy weight to go home

By 3rd baby was measuring big too stating he’ll be 10 pounds came out 6 pounds 10 oz

At 34 my son before my last (I just had a baby ) he was 10 all most 11 pounds … My last baby came a week over at 41 weeks at 8 4

My son was 9lb 11oz lol had to have a c-section bc his shoulders were so broad.

The measurements of ultrasound are not always 100% accurate. They told me both of my girls would be well over 10 pounds. My first I was induced at 38 weeks and she was 8.5 and my second I was induced at 37 and 5 and she was 8.1

Yes,
9
9.4
9.12
Then 10 (39 weeks)
Induced

Ultrasounds are not accurate for measuring a baby. They can be up to 2lbs or even more off .

Your body is made to birth.

The only person who ever got the birth weight of my baby right was my midwife.
Almost 9 lb baby and I’m a small woman. 5’1 barely

Just a heads up you might not make it to your due date of your baby is big. My first two were overdue but just above average size. My 3rd was 4.5kg and he came properly cooked at 38+4 and it was the easiest birth of them all.

My son was 7lbs 2ozs 19 inches long at 36 weeks. He is now 35 inches tall and nearly 30lbs at 20 months old. His sister turned 3 in May and weighs 29lbs and is 36.5 inches tall.

I’m 5’4.
All my babies arrived early.

1 9lbs 7oz

#2 9 lbs 9oz

3 10lbs 5oz

I always measured about 4 - 6 weeks ahead when they would measure my belly. I was huge!

The last ultrasound for baby # 3 they said around 8 1/2 pounds & I was so excited bc smaller than my previous two 9 pounders but actually ended up being over 10 pounds :woman_facepalming:t3:

I was able to have all mine natural & non medicated/epidural.
But I did tear a little each delivery.

My first was 6lb 15oz at birth and my 2nd was 9lbs 5oz:face_with_peeking_eye: but my 2nd was almost 6lbs (according to the ultrasound) at 32 weeks :grimacing: he was also born 1 day past his due date.

3 days before I had my son he was measuring about 7lbs, when he was born he was 10lbs, 13oz… my daughter a day before I had her, they were saying she was going to be 4/5lbs, I did not gain much weight with her at all, they brought in all this extra equipment at delivery and she was 7lbs, 10oz, healthy… so you can’t go by measurements

those scans are so out to lunch they said my son was nine lbs. he was 6’6 two weeks after.

My son was supposed to be between 10 & 12 lbs, he was 8. Ultrasounds aren’t a for sure measurement. And even 9 lbs isn’t to big a baby, you’ll be alright!!

What do you mean your “not trying to do that” yourself?
Please don’t try and restrict your baby’s growth in utero
