Anyones dog always stink?

Anyone else have a dog that always stinks? Like you bathe him and it just makes him smell worse? We have a German shepherd we got in 2020 he used to live on a ranch and the guy had him living in a fenced off mud pit, but he’s an indoor dog now and he just always stinks. We have no idea why. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this

The undercoat stinks. Take him to a professional groomer

Maybe a yeast infection on the skin. It happened to my dog.

Dogs with under coats can have many skin issues. Including skin infections….if u bath him often and aren’t getting that under coat completely dry pretty quick it can cause a smell dry skin and infection from scratching. Feel the skin in spots he’s smelly or that he scratches a lot. If it’s hot scabby raw or bald take him to the vet and get some meds. If u don’t think it’s his skin try changing his food. He could have a sensitive to something or even an allergy.

Professional groomer!!! I had the same issue with my German shepherd and i bring him to a professional now and he comes out smelling amazing with clean soft hair. It’s my favorite day of the month!!

I’d take him to a vet to rule out any skin conditions and then to a professional groomer. Thicker furred dogs do tend to smell though, it’s the undercoat.

When my dog used to swim she would stink but now that she no longer has a pond to swim in she doesn’t stink, well not to me anyway

Dogs are animals are will definitely give off a smell. The more time they spend outdoors, the more they smell.

It may be yeast - vet visit to check it out.

How many times to you suds him up when you bathe him? I have bully mixes and they need at minimum 2 scrubs with soap. I use a cat mit brush to really scrub them. Since I started using soap twice or more it really made a difference.
My oldest boy I use some special shampoo for shedding then I use just a basic soap aimed for his stinkiness. My second dog is disgusting she sometimes needs 3 scrubs till the water runs clear, she rolls in the dirt and mud every day.
