Anyones small child pee a lot?

Any moms have small children that pee alllll the time! I have a 5 year old boy and I swear he pees few times an hour! I did an outpatient A1C and it came back 5.0 which is normal. I’m thinking maybe a small bladder. He’s been doing this for months. He doesn’t complain about burning or hurting…. Anyone else’s kid the same? He also drinks a lot!

Is this a new thing? I know you said the A1C was normal but I would probably repeat it as I would definitely be worried about diabetes. I would also maybe get a urine culture ran? I know he’s not complaining of burning but if it is a newer development there may still be some sort of infection going on in his bladder.

If he drinks a lot, he’s going to pee a lot. Younger children have smaller bladders and can’t hold it as long as adults or older children. But it is normal. Unless he complained of any other issues such as pain or anything he’s going to be fine.

My 8 yr old has to pee everywhere we go. Always has

My daughter will be 5 next month. She has always peed a lot. She was in the normal range and didn’t have diabetes. The doctor said she either has a weak bladder or a small bladder.

“He drinks a lot”
So where do you expect it all to go?

My youngest is 13 and still drinks a lot and pees several times an hour. Some of it is water intake based and some of it is he isn’t slowing down long enough or fully releasing underwear/pant pressure off of his testicles and penis when peeing to allow for a complete drain.

Welp…they have small bladders and he drinks a lot…

I would definitely get a blood glucose monitor and check his fasting blood sugars. Extreme thirst and frequent urination were the first signs my daughter was T1. You may have checked too soon for an A1C to be decisive.

My youngest had that problem when she was around 6 or 7 years old. She had overactive bladder syndrome & had to take a medicine for it.

Go get him checked for diabetes. We were seeing signs for awhile before our son was diagnosed.

I had a great A1C when I was first diagnosed. But loads of ketones in my urine.

my oldest girl was like that as a toddler. when brought up to her pediatrician after she did her thing she said was fine.
one thing she asked me to watch as diabetes runs in our family was how her diet is as she changes and grows into her preteen/teen yrs.

Have them check his urine

Might be nerves or anxiety.

Have them check his kidneys. This is also a sign of kidney disease. Even if no one in the family has kidney issues, still push for the testing. It could also just be an over active bladder. But have them rule out CKD

Small bladder lots of fluids. I would check blood sugar levels

I would have him tested for diabetes. Sounds alot like he may have it or just a small bladder

My 4.5 daughter is the same. She drinks and pees a lot but a1c is normal

My 6 year had an overactive bladder and we had to retain his brain. We set timers, had rewards. The busier he was the less he went. As soon as he felt the urge he’d have to go. He grew out of it. It’s exhausting and takes time. Good luck.

My son is 8 he has to pee at every store we go to :person_shrugging:

The same with my 5 yr boy I’ve never seen anybody pee as much as him

Yep, all the time, every where go… we know where all bathrooms are
