Has any of your kiddos broke their arm or elbow at age two? How did you manage while they had a cast on and can’t do much? I’m having a meltdown over feeling so bad for my son that wants to be active but can’t
Do stuff with his legs. Dance to music. Lie on your back and do bicycles. Kick a balloon around the house.
Have him help stir or pour or scrub or dust something with his good arm. He can color, stack blocks, work simple puzzles with his good arm. Can he ride a tricycle holding the handlebars with both hands? Or is that just inviting trouble?
Bat a balloon around. Read to him. Jump up and down. Play hopscotch. Learn songs. Go on nature walks and look for specific things like squirrels, mushrooms, flowers, birds, smooth rocks, water in a creek, puddle or lake.
Ride a carousel or other amusement park rides. Bake or cook something together. Plant something in a pot. Shop for shoes or boots for him. Go to a playground and be careful of the broken arm.
Go to a restaurant and try something new like pho or sushi or pupusas or empanadas or some kind of dumplings, or samosas or red bean buns or some other pastry. Take him grocery shopping and send him on a mission to find something in the aisle where you are.
