Are fundal massages necessary after a C-section?

I had a c-section with my twins, and after the nurses did the fundal massage. That was the worst pain I’ve ever been in. It was complete misery, and I was in tears every time they walked in to do it. I understand what it is for and what it prevents, but I also feel like our bodies know what to do. To my understanding, it is a preventative measure, not completely necessary. I’m 32 weeks pregnant and do NOT want it done again. Does anyone have experience with declining the fundal massage, or it just not being “routine”? Please, no explanations of the purpose of it being done; I know why it is done.
