Hi, my daughter turns nine weeks Sunday and day 3 of me being back to work, and she won’t take a bottle…I need quick help with any suggestions. Work tomorrow and then two days off…I need to make progress before the end of my days off, or I might not have to work, Which I CANT do cause it’s only me paying my bills, and my 12-week leave is over. What good am I if I can’t provide her a stable roof? My 16yr old daughter is watching her for me now… And I can’t make her figure it out…PS… She was taking the bottle at 1st but then when I actually went to work… She stopped. I don’t get it. I ONLY breastfeed. And tried so many different nipples. I’m wearing my 16 years old out already, and I’ve only been back to work 3 days
My daughter liked the Phillips Avent bottles. Maybe leave one of your shirts you have wore with your older daughter while she is feeding the baby so that baby can smell you. That may make it easier for her to take a bottle.
My little boy took to MAM really well x
My son liked Avent and my daughter likes the Mam.
We use MAM! Never had an issue with nipple confusion while using this bottle! They even make matching Pacifiers!!! Going on 3 months breastfeeding!
Get her to wear one of your shirts with ur scent on it while feeding her. Can’t hurt.
Como tomo. Tried three different brands.
There really isn’t a specific bottle that works for breastfed babies. You just have to keep trying different ones. Have your daughter feed the baby the bottle when you’re home. I always give the bottle around one month old to avoid this when breastfeeding. Maybe try a little tiny bit of sugar water on the nipple of the bottle to get her to take it.
Nano Bebe is really good for those stubborn babies I hear and I also use tommy tippy
Mine was cup fed. They start by lapping like a kitten but then you can pour it and they’ll swallow. If it’s desperate you can also squirt using a syringe.
My son will only take Lanisloh bottles.
Anyone they will take. Buy 4 or 5 singles Or one of every kind they have. Mine would take medela nipples and dr browns
Latch was the only kind my daughter would take and she was solely breastfed. Unless at a grandparents.
Had this issue with my neice… I had to give her droppers of formula. The first day was rough. Day 2 she was a bit better. Day 3 she ate from the bottle like a champ
My kids loved tommee tippee bottles.
I am assuming you are pumping breast milk to fill the bottle. Maybe the problem is the temperature of the bottle, when I went back to work when my babies were still breastfed, the bottles had to be the exact right temperature, and never warmed up in a microwave that creates hot spots. Simmering water in a pan checking the temperature before feeding was the only way to get them to take he bottle.
We use Como Tomo and have had zero problems!
Minbie is great and the nipple is shaped closest to how a breast stretches when a baby is nursing!
Lansinoh bottles were great for my baby. He was exclusively breastfed and the bottle is designed for nursing babies, reducing nipple confusion. The nipple mimicks the same sucking motions
I finally found Minbie bottles which are shaped more nipple like. Worth every dime.
That John Thomas is a creep!! Stay away!!
Why are people laughing at this…
I used the playtex nursers and they were great drop in liners made my life easier and whoever was prepping the bottle would make sure to put the bottle nipple in their pocket or bra depending on which grandparent it was to make the nipple more body temp and before anyone says anything yes I am that mom that would just lick my kids pacifier after it dropped on the floor and give it back to him he is now 8 and perfectly healthy so sssshhhh
My daughter would only take the Nuk bottle when it was time to transition for me going to work. I tried them all!
Avent natural worked for us.
My daughter would only take ola bottles they have an offset nipple and much more breast like than other bottles
Boon, NURSH Reusable Silicone Pouch Bottle is the one my son had less nippel confusion with
We used Dr. Brown for a long time then switched to Boon Nursh… So much easier to clean
I would just buy bottle samples. You can get 1 of each bottle at target for like $5 each. Try them all bc all babies prefer something different. My daughter won’t take breastmilk out of a bottle unless its warmed up.
We used Avent Phillips bottles for our breastfed baby. We had to top him up with pumped milk after he nursed at a few weeks old… he took it fine and didn’t have nipple confusion
Have you tried the el-cheapo $1 bottles? I had to exclusively pump with both of my kids, and my daughter was SO SO SO picky. I tried all the expensive ones and last but not least tried the cheap $1 bottle and it was the best one she took. Go figure. lol
Tommee Tippee bottles were the only ones my breast fed babies would take. All 4 of mine only breast fed for the first 3 months. Maybe even have her have one of your just worn shirts near by for smell.
My daughter loved those cheap Walmart brand bottles. I went and spent $90 on 3 bottles and that was a waste lol she loved the $5 3 packs
Mam worked great for my kids… good luck! It will work out. Give it time💖
Avent simply natural
My youngest was only breastfed when he was with me, but he loved the nuk naturals bottles! They were the only ones he would take while I was working.
Try cup feeding contact La Leche League International
My husband had to take a shirt that I slept in (braless) overnight so it smelled like me and milk, and drape that over him chest and then hold baby next to the shirt to get her to take the bottle. We used Medela and they worked well.
I had the same issue and my doctor said pick a bottle and just stick to it you have to be consistent. The nuk bottles worked best for me. They have a flow similar to your breasts.
Try leaving something with your scent near baby or with baby if u go off to work
Tried everything and my daughter would only take avent. And I had to leave one of my shirts/sweaters with her when I would go to work.
I used avent bottles seemed to help my daughter transition from boob to bottle
JUST went through this ourselves and are still currently dealing with this. Her PED suggested medium flow nippes (hold baby upright when feeding make sure not to choke) and our daycare had the best luck with tommi tippie. She holds her outward and up and she’ll be distracted by other kids or cartoons and all the noise. It takes time. At first she just had her sit it in her mouth and she would let some milk “pool” in her mouth until she would drink it. After 3 weeks she now has a good latch and will drink 3-4 oz at a time. The first two weeks it took an hour to feed 3 oz every single time. Daughter needs to be prepared to deal with that
Feel free to pm me! Hugs momma
Don’t breastfeed her while you’re off the next couple of days, pump and bottle feed to get her on the bottle.
Como tomo or even dr.browns wide neck bottles.
Buy every bottle and every nipple until you find one she will take.
Our daughter would not take a bottle at all and we had tried every bottle/nipple on the market. What finally did the trick was dipping the nipple in warm water before we gave it to her. She took it immediately. Try to have someone else do it, it always seems to work better if it’s someone else trying.
When you feed her, wear a certain t shirt, or a sleep shirt. Have your daughter put on the shirt when she feeds her, and nuzzle her close. She will be comforted by the smell.
We tried nuk bottles. The wierd end teat worked best as its one closer to nipple effect they would get on boob
