Lindsay Mae Demski just because someone has a tablet doesn’t mean they have to sit all day with it. My daughter has one, it’s for car rides and for an hour a day if at all.

The cheapest one you can find because they will tear it up anyhow

My daughter is now 13. My one regret in my life is giving her a tablet at a young age because now she doesn’t know what to do if she doesn’t have something having to do with technology in her hands.

My kids get phones right before high school. I only got them a tablet when my mom was dying and I needed to keep them busy in the nursing home. 5 is super young. But anyways, there’s always sales on iPads, if you have an iPhone it’s easy to connect with each other

The Onn kids tablet is great. We got our 3t told foster son one and it’s taught him so SO much!

I saw an ad this morning. It said something about a bark phone. That’s completely controlled by the parents. I’d look into it if I were wanting to get my child a phone.

Leap frog is perfect for that age!

Honestly if you can hold off another year…speaking from experience, they get addicted and aggressive if they can’t have them.

She didn’t ask for judgement, she asked for specific recommendations. Mind your own kids!

I would go to a pawn shop and get a tablet there ! That’s what I plan on doing for my 4 yo.

Let her touch grass. No kid that age needs a tablet or phone. they need imagination and fresh air

The Walmart brand onn tablet is a favorite of ours for the kids!

I got my son a cheap Samsung tablet on a black Friday sale one year. You can put educational games on it and if you download qustodio on your phone and the tablet you will be able to set time limits and restrict everything other than the few apps you wanted your kid to have access to. There’s lots of benefits to having access to certain games or even Netflix when you’re out and about. Lots of people will complain but ultimately it’s your child and your decision. I know it helped us out a lot, there’s a lot of “games” that can be really educational or help with fine motor skills. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a child having a few hours a day on a “screen”.

I got my daughter at Leap frog Tablet when she was 4. She now has a galaxy 8 tablet (I think it is) from walmart. Bought a case with blue screen off amazing. She’s going to be 8 this month.

Amazon fire tablet is what mine had until they were old enough for a phone. They got phones at 8 and 11

Amazon Fire sucks. It’s very limited as far as options for downloads. I’d do iPad, iPhone, or cheap Samsung phone.

5 year olds could use a basic phone for emergencies. No need for a tablet. Bill Gates and Steve Wozniacki didn’t give their kids tech gadgets until they were at least 12.

Can someone tell me why does a five-year-old need a tablet?

It’s called doing chores and playing outside

Onn tablet from Walmart. $50 and works amazing. Way better than Amazon fire tablets. They come with google space kids so it’ll be set up as a “kids” tablet

For yall saying absolutely no technology, you do realize that sometimes school revolves around that technology? If you are absolutely adamant about it, you are doing a disservice to your child. Also know there is a difference between allowing technology and internet access.

Idk if there’s a tablet similar to Nabi or maybe one you can put into kid mode. They had fun learning style things and didn’t give kids free range access to the internet. It was a good happy medium. They didn’t have streaming services or anything so they didn’t live on them.

Mine started out with Amazon tablets. Now that they are older they have Samsung tablets/phones. You can set up time restrictions sp they aren’t on them all the time. Mine still enjoy time outdoors and do chores. They don’t have to become addicted if you have control over when they are used.

The cheapest ones off Amazon so when they break you can replace them easily lol

My daughter has a kids fire tablet from amazon. If you do the kids plus subscription with it, it gives access to a bunch of books and educational games and videos. And you can set time limits. While I understand the people saying “no tech”, that’s just not the world we live in. And there are gonna be times where that tablet is going to save your butt when it comes to keeping your little ones busy. Its not impossible to raise a child that uses a tablet that isnt totally dependent on it. But its ridiculous to try to keep your kid from using something that they will ultimately end up using anyway. I was wary at first myself, but she loves using it to record her ballet and violin classes to practice at home. Like with everything, all in moderation.

Amazon Fire Kids tablets. They even replace them if they break them…

Buy a tonie box, leap pad or sensory bins

Avoid the tablets and phones.

My son has a small Samsung tablet, it has a lot of games and what not he plays (offline) from counting, to ABC’s to logic building. It doesn’t need to be the latest and flashiest piece of technology.

Look into make sure you find one with kids Google space there awesome and full of only things for kids and you have full control of the tablet with your phone.
