Best way to learn sign language?

Hey moms! Dose anyone know sign language? Or know the best way to learn? My baby has 20% heat loss and needs surgery but the surgery can ether make it worse or make it slightly better but the doctor said it would be best to start learning sign language with her. We have taught her the basics baby signs but we need to start actually doing more sign

Download Lingvano, it’s an app that teaches you ASL $10 a month.
There’s so many baby sign language videos to start out with her while you start learning the beginner signs. YouTube will be your best friends. Local libraries have books on it too. Babies/kids learn sign language fairly quickly

I use pocket sign app on my phone. Plus, there are a lot of you tube videos that can be utilized.

YouTube videos and there are a lot of apps to download on your phone … also Amazon has signing books for babies

My grandson knows please, thank you, eat in sign language. Nothing to do with hearing unfortunately he has learned to talk with a pacifier in his mouth… but it’s cool he knows it. you just continuously sigh every time you say the words. They will catch on

YouTube has several videos that are easy to follow and teach a ton of asl!! I have friends (one is hard of hearing and one is deaf) that I hated making them have to read lips when I was around, so I started learning thru the YouTube videos. I wouldn’t say I am fluent, but definitely feel more in place communicating with them. The more I watch, the more I do, the better I get!

When I started learning to sign we watched Signing Time

I love this lady on FB.

Check your community/library. A lot of areas have free in person classes. Or at least they do in our area.

ASL classes. It’s worth spending the money on them.

As a deaf person, It’s best to learn from a deaf teacher to avoid the wrong signs (example Name and Weight are similar) but there are free apps taught by deaf teachers like ASL Bloom and paid apps Lingvano. Avoid YouTube videos because sign language is not universal and sometimes will be showing the wrong signs or a different country’s version of the sign. Sign Language in other countries are different from ASL. You can also check your local colleges for classes and maybe reach out to a deaf community to help.
