Can you eat lunch meat while pregnant?

Yes it being toasted is fine!

Eat your sub. It’s best if the internal temperature is 165 degrees. listeria is found in lunch meats that are open for 3 to 5 days or have been cross contaminated with another meat… I sub once in awhile if I’m going to hurt you.

Get your sub and eat it. Don’t be so paranoid.

when I was pregnant I ate subway I just had them toast it

On my second pregnancy and still eat cold cut subs. My oldest is 2 1/2 years old, and a little feisty, but fine lol.

I only had lunch meat if it was heated.

This risk of contracting listeria is super low but to avoid this risk having the meat heated or toasted is fine.

Listeria! Not worth it!

Its the high concentration on nitrates and the risk of food poisoning.

Just heat the meat to steaming to kill possible listeria

Toast or microwave it. Problem solved. I prefer toasted.

It’s the nitrates in lunch meat they warn pregnant women to stay away from

When I was pregnant with my daughter I ate subway without it being toasted. My daughter is 3 and its fine.

You can eat it but it needs to be heated first

Just toast it and its okay. I talked to my ob about that it just has to be heated up

They say not to Bc of listeria and chemical hormones :woman_shrugging:t3: when I craved it I was told it fine as long as it heated

I ate bologna sandwiches and nothing more for a whole week when I was pregnant this last time.
Everyone survived.

Whenever I get subs I just ask for my lunch meat warmed up. You’ll be perfectly fine, enjoy your sandwich😂

You can eat lunch meat they want you to heat it first but no one does

You can eat a damn sub

6 healthy children
6 pregnancies where I almost exclusively snacked on cold lunch meat due to my diabetes

Toast it and it’s okay. My drs general rule is to only eat it Every once in awhile and make sure the meat is hot.

I worked at subway with my first pregnancy. I ate sandwiches everyday nobody said anything about it (except for the tuna). My first is now almost 5, and 50 pounds. :woman_shrugging: eat that sub mama!

girl I ate so much lunch meat when I was pregnant and I just had my baby the other day I want to tell you what she is healthy as a horse. I would literally go up to Publix just to go to the deli to get salami and that salami did not make it home.

Literally everything you do poses a “threat” to you and your baby… breathing the air outside, getting in your car, etc. Enjoy that sub, girl!

I ate subs alot during my first pregnancy. One night for dinner I ate 3. Was a very big craving for me. Lol

That’s for reasons of possible listeria risk. I’d ask them to great the meat because your pregnant then put it on the bread. The other ingredients should cool it back down which should be close enough to a regular sub in taste.

Just get it toasted, I was told by my doctor if I wanted lunch meat to heat it up a bit

Coming from someone who has worked in a factory that produces processed deli meats, it actually has no more bacteria on it than any other food you consume when kept at the right temperatures. (<40°F for cold cuts). In moderation and proper food storage/preparation, it’s perfectly safe to eat lunch meat even while pregnant.
