I need ideas for cheap homemade Halloween costumes. It’s got to be from a storybook character. Not much money to spend and something pretty simple. It’s for my 6 year old to wear to school on Halloween.

Do “a blessing In disguise” write blessing across front of a shirt (or put it on tape if preferred) and provide them with a hat, glasses etc. for the “disguise”. My daughter did this one year and it was a huge hit. Simple and quick
If it for a girl do Fancy Nancy! Just put on frilly clothes and a tutu and costume jewelry! I did that for my daughter! We also did if you give a mouse a cookie and did over alls, a I made mouse ears and a cookie with cardboard

Try a dollar store. They usually have like cat ears an tail sets for like 5 then dress in all black
My kids did a trunk or treat as a UPS driver and a package… I printed the UPS logo, colored it with a marker and glued it to her shirt and hat… Huge hit, they got so many compliments

Go to goodwill, they have awesome costumes for good prices , that’s what I used to do
White sheet. Cut out eyes and arm holes. Boom a ghost. Toilet paper wrapped around a white outfit. A mummy. Overalls yellow shirt and some goggles a minion.
Thrift stores in our area are pretty decent prices and you can find costumes for around 5 to 10 bucks .
