Take him to the doctor and definitely make sure all unsafe doors are locked

My boyfriend does this and has full blown conversations while he sleeps. NEVER wake them because it can be extremely dangerous for both parties involved. He may want to seek professional help to try and figure out what the underlying cause is. As for me?.. I do nothing. It’s actually quite entertaining for me to watch and listen to him. If I felt he was in danger, I would just redirect him back towards the bedroom. If you have to wake him… do not do it abruptly.

I would make sure his room is safe and put a gate at his door. So he doesn’t get hurt. Until you speak to a professional about this subject.

Talk to the childs doctor about it. Make sure the house is super clean and clear of things the child could hurt themselves on if walking around. Make sure doors and windows are locked…even put a lock thats at the top of the door so the child can not reach it. But #1- talk to their doctor. In the mean time, make sure their space is safe, and NEVER wake them up, just guide them back to their bed gently…using a very soft whisper voice.

I would take him to a Dr first and foremost. My brother did this and as he got older he unlocked doors and went outside. It can get dangerous. Good luck

My husband done this a few times when we moved to our new house. I would let him do what he needed then when he lay back down in the living room I would wait then walk him up and send him back to our bed. I do know never to walk them when they are sleep walking. I would take him to the Dr, and make sure 100 he can’t get outside. Or to any steps that he could fall down.

It was just a phase my daughter grew out of it

Never wake him up. Put a safety gate outside his door. Put a baby monitor in the room. If you hear him just go in and direct him to the bed and put him back.

You need to talk to his PCP and get a referral to a pediatric sleep specialist.

You don’t wake someone that’s sleep walking. Also, it’s not that big of a deal. It could pass. No need to go to a doctor unless it’s really bad.
I slept walked and I eventually grew out of it.
Not a big deal.

A lot of times it can be a simple thing like making them go to bathroom before bed. I should know when I was little if I didn’t go I would sleep walk and they would have to make me go to bathroom to go back to sleep. But that was me lol

NEVER WAKE A SLEEPWALKER… gentle guide back to bed… I sleep and have since i was a toddler never found out why but I have found that if I’m not comfortable in my setting I don’t do it so I move my room around once a month just by rotating my bed

Don’t. Wake. A. Sleep. Walker.
Even kids know that . Doctor won’t be able to do much. Some people just sleep walk. Lots sleep talk. Some do both.

You’re not supposed to wake up a sleep walker.

So I tried to sleep walk out the front door of my house when I was 10, it was due to stress, my parents were fighting terribly and it was just before their divorce that it happened. Needless to say my dad redirected me back to bed then taped the deadbolt shut with duct tape so I couldn’t get out. I think that was the only time I remember it happening.

I bought door and window alarms. And added an extra lock high up so she couldn’t reach it. For a patio, put a piece of wood or several canned goods in the track on the opposite side so the door wont open. (Dont allow him to take the wood or cans out) And I’d always put a chair or something by the door. They say that sleepwalkers do what is normal for them. Get up, get dressed, brush their teeth etc. So dont allow your child to mess with the alarms. Then It’ll become normal for him to do and then it’s a waste of money. Also, never never wake up a sleepwalker. They’ll be disoriented and scared and lash out. The best thing to do is lead them back to bed.

Never wake up a sleep Walker , just gently put him in his bed

Absolutely never wake a person who is sleep walking…follow them and if they do something that could harm them redirect them in the softest kindest voice. My daughter when she was between 2 1/2 to 4 years old she did the same. Would use the bathroom in awkward places…at one time she told me she was sorry she ran away from me in wal mart and scared me, and she really needed to use the bathroom. All while she was sitting on top of a box on a desk…peeing😐 i finally ended up taking her to the dr. And at first we thought it was night terrors…two monts later it was still happening, so i took her back. And we finally was able to bring it down to changes we had been making. We had moved, we changed her diet around, dr suggested me to limted sugars to zero to none about five hours before bedtime, and to either read a soothing book, put on soothing music or a movie that would not scare her in anyway. I also decided to give her a bedtime bath and put bedtime lotion on her 30 minutes before bed. I have also been told that certain dyes in some foods and drinks can throw anybody off. Not really sure on how true that is with all kids…i have friends that cut green, red and blue dyes out and their kids are so much calmer. But I’ve never tested that on my children. My daughter is now 11 and this no longer happens to her.
