QUESTION:

"You’re single, and you start talking to someone… they’re great, but their name is the same as one of your children. Could you date and or marry someone that has the same name as your child? It’s an obscure name too, so it’s not just like “Michael” or “Alex.” Weird or funny? Neutral? He’s a nice guy, but that’s why I’m holding back!"

"I married someone with the same name as my daughter. We met when she was 3 and they both happen to have the same name. Almost 10 years later, he’s legally adopted her so they even have the same last name, and half the people we meet think we named her after him, only those closest to us know the real story. And since she is his in every way but biological he never corrects anyone, just smiles and says yup that’s my girl. I’d be more concerned about other qualities, introducing too early, things like that then a name."

"If you really like him, then name is NBD. pick a nickname and stick with it! Haha"

"Idk about you but I usually call my SO pet names I rarely use his actual name unless I’m talking about him to other people"

"It would be just like marrying someone, having a child and naming the child afyer the father/mother."

"Just do it. It’s not weird. Many kids are named after their dads so idk why it bothers you. It’s just a name."

"This happened to my friend. She found the man of her dreams who fell in love with her and her son. We all find it adorable and makes us love their story even more."

"I dated someone with the same name as my brother, but it’s only as weird as you make it. Silly reason to hold back."

"My husband is named after his dad and my son is named after both of them. It’s just a name. If you like the guy then it shouldn’t matter lol"

"Why not just give them nicknames? It’s really not that big of a deal."

"Call him by his middle name or create a nickname for him"
