Does smoking marijuana really decrease your chances of getting pregnant?

I just came across an article that says smoking marijuana decreases the chance of fertility. I frequently and legally smoke marijuana but don’t plan to start a family anytime soon. I know that when I do, I would definitely stop beforehand. But for those who were frequent marijuana smokers, was it easy for you to get pregnant? I’m kind of scared now because I really do want kids, and my fear would be not being able to.

I was 16, on birth control pills, and smoked daily, ended up pregnant (didn’t find out till I was 3.5 months along that I was pregnant due to the birth control pills kept taking them daily, had no signs) I still smoked daily when I got pregnant with my 2nd years later.

I’ve known multiple people before who have smoked it before they got pregnant and ended up having a healthy pregnancy. I doubt it causes women to not get pregnant.

Hahaha smoke daily. I have five babies and two Angel’s. I’d say not in this case.

I smoked marijuana daily at least 4 or 5 times a day and ended up getting pregnant in between switching birth controls :upside_down_face: lol. But i quit smoking once i found out and im currently 36 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy

It decreases fertility in men, lowers the sperm count. You’ll be fine

I just asked my obgyn about this yesterday. I have my medical card for ulcerative colitis (an IBD like Crohns). My morning sickness has been CRAZY so I was curious.

Theres not enough data one way or the other for science to give a :+1:or:-1: The biggest risk is that smoking anything makes your blood vessels smaller. You want them bigger, especially during the first trimester so more blood flow and nutrition gets to the baby. I was advised that if I want to consume any form of THC while pregnant, edibles are the preferred method.

That being said, I’ve had my card for a while and got pregnant the first try. Keep your body overall healthy and you should be fine.

This completely depends on YOUR body! Talk to your doctor about your risks. Just like anything else every body has a personal reaction to any chemical, herb, medicine that goes into their body.

Smoked for 20 years have 3 kids lol

No it does not. There are whole groups dedicated to cannabis friendly parents.

Not at all. What can affect your chances are your overall health, diet, and medical history. Marijuana has no impact on pregnancies.

mmm I’d have to say no to that as a woman. if I was a smoker or a nonsmoker i got pregnant just the same.

It doesn’t effect itnso long as you’re normally healthy otherwise

I never had issues conceiving, nor did anyone I know. I always thought that was a myth. Tracking your cycle and taking ovulation tests may rest your worries.

We had fertility issues and had tests. Gave up and lost 10kg n our results improved dramatically and also we were able to get pregnant. It made a huge difference for us. N we weren’t huge smokers

I haven’t seen any concrete evidence anywhere that supports marijuana decreases fertility. Personal experience, no issues. I guess it just depends on your body.

Daily user never had an issue with fertility. Even continued smoking while pregnant. Not on the daily but I did talk to my doctor about it and he said it was fine as long as it wasn’t mixed with tobacco and it wasn’t consistent. It helped with my morning sickness and to eat because I couldn’t hold anything down. My son was born full term just a few days early. He was healthy and he’s very smart he’s in the 4th grade and in the top of his class.

The guys sperm is not as active if they smoke literally every minute they’re awake and for quite a few years like that. Otherwise don’t worry but I do recommend being sober for the future anyway because the longer you smoke the harder to quit and it’s not a nice idea having that influence/lifestyle around kids…

My husband smokes regularly for idk how long I do not smoke at all but I have 2 kids from a previous relationship where he did not smoke had no problems getting pregnant when it came to my husband and I conceiving it took us almost 2 years to get pregnant I cant say for sure if that is it but when we did get pregnant he had slowed down smoking a lot

I’ve been smoking since my teens. I have 6 children, a stillborn and 2 miscarriages. I get pregnant very easily regardless of smoking. It will happen for you. Goodluck :+1:

Daily for 25 yrs besides during pregnancy. I had 3 children so unless there is proof of fertility issues I believe your just fine. Get the facts before ppl start putting things in your head.

Got pregnant twice and was a every day, multiple times a day smoker. Took me like 3 months of trying for both kids.

Nope was smoking when i got pregnant (bc failed) quit when i found out just in case but nothing bad happened

Cigarettes would have more affect on fertility than marijuana would…

Nope if im evidence then if anything it made me more fertile cuz both times I got pregnant on b.c. and smoked lol

I think this is a myth. I have 4

For a man they say it can slow their swimmers however, every pothead I know has multiple kids lbvs I only had issues when I was over weight. Lost weight and now we cant even sit by each other lol

No. There’s people who do meth/ heroin everyday and have no issue getting pregnant… So weed won’t be any different

I’m 39 smoked since I was 13 I have 6 healthy kids my last born a week ago no fertility issues whatsoever

No it does not effect you. I’m a regular smoker and it was very easy for me to get pregnant with my daughter.

As of 2019, apparently there aren’t enough studies to actually come to a conclusion of whether it decreases or increases your chance of getting pregnant according to obstetricians and gynecologists. Apparently they’re begging for more researchers to do large scale studies on it. So in my opinion, maybe stop using it incase it will end up being the reason of infertility issues in the future. Some women get pregnant using it, and some have to stop. Since none of us commenting are fortune tellers, they really cant say that just because they got pregnant while smoking weed, doesnt mean others will have no problem. Truth be told, none of us has any idea whether we can conceive or not when it’s time to, even without smoking weed.

:rofl::rofl: my younger sister is a major stoner. Has 4 kids (twins and her current youngest was born when she 26) whereas I dont smoke and I have 1 child which was born when I was 28. I think its more genetics. We are half sisters. I tried for many years with no luck and my sister hooks up with someone once and bam baby or babies.

No. Daily smoker. Never had any issues of any kind and in fact I get pregnant quite quick.

I’m pretty sure I was conceived when my parents were high. :joy::joy::joy:

Smoking doesnt decrease it. I got pregnant easily shoot i got pregnant 2 months after just giving birth.

No definitely not true I smoke everyday only quit when I’m pregnant and my ass is on my third pregnancy lol might be different for others tho🤷

I haven’t read anything about it and fertility but I have read studies that it is linked to Autism after birth.

My husband smoked every day i didnt i have 5 beautiful children depends i guess

Both me & my partner are regular smokers and we are expecting our second in a week!

I’ve read that it does slow sperm down. My boyfriend smoked every day and it did take us a long time to get pregnant with our first. And he quit smoking and we got pregnant much quicker with our second. It could totally be a coincidence though :woman_shrugging:t3: I know a lot of avid pot smokers who have had no issue getting pregnant.

For men not women. It makes there sperm ‘lazy’

Same here. Talked to my Doctor and he sad it was fine as well.

In my situation, it happened to make the sperm LAZY. But after about 4 months of not smoking, it was successful.

Based on the the city I live in…I determine that’s a lie…:joy::joy:

Yes. You get all stoned and fall asleep all cozy with a full belly!!:blush::blush:

I have never had this issue and i have 6 kids lol

It can decrease sperm count in daily users

This is from Boston University

I never had an issue. But then again there are women doing everything right and still can’t get pregnant. I think it’s based on your body. Some women get pregnant easily, others struggle. :person_shrugging:

Um no. I smoked literally all day every day when I was younger and fit pregnant 3 times. I was also on depo for two of them and the pill, properly taken with the other. It definitely doesn’t effect your reproductive system.

Don’t you know marijuana makes everything worse… Its the devil. Its completely terrible…:roll_eyes::roll_eyes: Don’t listen to the bs. Your good. Keep doing what you do. I bet my kids just wished I smoked pot so I’d chill the fu** out :joy: unfortunately for me I can’t smoke it cos I just get too paranoid evertime…doesnt really suit me. But I do believe the natural leaf is very beneficial :maple_leaf::leaves::slightly_smiling_face:

Well if u look at the rates of teen pregnancy and what their using, its safe to say, no i dont think its true! Also, docs in us actually agree that its helpful so if it did anything like that, theyd be more available on the subject.

No ma’am it doesn’t. Frequent smoker:raising_hand_woman:t2:I have two beautiful and healthy girls. As for the angry reactions, please let go of the stigma

Marijuana can lower men’s sperm count but I’ve never heard it lowers womens fertility.

Go to your obgyn and ask this.

About the only thing pot can affect on a woman is make her breasts significantly larger. I’m exhibit A on that I went from a DDD to a G in about 6 months with no weight gain.

Nope, and it doesn’t decrease sperm counts either.

I smoke a lot… and I got pregnant no problem :heart_eyes::sunglasses::v:t2:

Junk science. My sister in law smokes weed and has 7 kids.

No it does not and all the women that smoke weed with over 3 kids proves that

I’m also a smoker and I had no issues getting pregnant. With my 2nd, I had the mirena. I had it taken out, within that month. I had only had sex 2 times and I was pregnant the next month…I had my tubes tied after my 2nd child. 5 years later, I was pregnant!

From what I’ve been told as far as medical advice, yes. But From what I’ve seen happen with those who use it and having babies, no. :woman_shrugging:

I have 5 kids…it doesn’t prevent you from bearing a child.

Hell no avid pot smoke I have four kids ranging from 15-1 month old you can smoke

I’ve never heard that before, but I dont believe it. I’ve got 3 very healthy little boys!

Medical stand point will ALWAYS tell you not to do it and it will decrease your chances…but it’s BS.

No… some cultures even use it to prevent preterm labor.

i smoke pot a few times a day everyday have since i was 16 …ive had 9 kids so i dont think it decreases ur chances

Yes maam long term usuer here i had the same worries as you im 3q with 3 beautiful healthy children

Had six beautiful smoking weed

No… This is not factual.

You must be joking! My daughters dad smoked it since he was like…11 and he’d never had problems impregnating any woman :joy: and he’s a very heavy weed smoker too!

I never heard of yhat

I was on 3 grams a day medicinal when I got pregnant. Partner was taking 1.5 grams a day. I quit as soon as we found out we were expecting. Baby is happy and healthy.

My mother smoked marijuana from the time she was 16 until she passed in May. She had 4 children. I’d say no it doesn’t lol

Yes and no my husband and I both were heavy smokers and tried for a baby for over 3 years once we quit smoking we we’re pregnant very quickly. So yes I think it has a big affect on fertility

my sisters been smoken since she was 16 smoked thru both here pregnancies has never stoped smoken now shes pregnant again with her 3rd still smoken never had any problems

I didn’t have any problems getting pregnant

It probably has no effect on you, but may decrease sperm count in men.

I smoked pot regularly and was on birth control when I got pregnant with my oldest.

Nope I’m a heavy pot smoker and I have 3 children one was a birth control baby on top of my heavy pot use.

I smoke every day all day and I have 6 kids.Weed has nothing to do with that

I’ve never heard of that before.

No I stopped when I found out I was pregnant and 7 years ago with my daughter

I smoke and about to have baby number 7… So that’s a negitive from me.

Have 3 kids despite my marijuana usage lmao

In my younger years I smoked a lot of weed. I have 4 kids, one do them was triplets naturally…so I would say my fertility was not affected in a negative way. If you are concerned I would see an ob or maybe a naturopath dr and talk to them.
