Help a mama out and respond anonymously on our forum. Give me your experiences with a copper IUD please!
I had no issues with it. Way better than the Mirena. I would scream at everyone to NOT get that.
I got the copper iud, fell pregnant with my son with it. I now have the Jaydess coil, which is a hormone iud, but it’s not as strong as a regular Mirena
I have heard nothing but horrible things with the copper IUD and my obgyns office won’t even offer it because of the horrible side effects. My younger sister bled for months straight on it.
Following! I also want the copper one…I have mirena and it works fine and stopped my periods completely BUT made me gain almost 30 pounds in a month ina half soooooooo
One of the BEST decisions I’ve ever made!! It’s amazing !! I literally took it out to get pregnant after having it in for YEARS and no joke got pregnant that same week!!! . Never had any issues I love it! I don’t care for hormone ones etc I love how it hormone free just copper!
I have had it since 2017 and it’s been the best birth control for me!
I didnt have any issues with the copper iud. My periods were heavier but other than that I had no side effects
Best decision I have made for myself! I had my first paragard for 4 years and never had any issues. Took it out to get pregnant again. Had it removed in June and got pregnant in July. Now I have my second paragard and have had it for about 4 months and no issues so far.
I loved mine. I ovulate through all hormonal contraceptives (all 3 of my kids were birth control babies) so I was happy to have a nonhormonal option. I had a permanent sterilization procedure a few years ago now but still highly recommend Paragard.
I was very happy with mine - regular periods and no side effects. However, I did get pregnant after 1.5 years while it was still perfectly positioned so it wasn’t effective in my case.
I had mirena for 10 years then switched a couple months ago to paragard. I haven’t had any issues. It sucks having periods again but wanted to try something without hormones. Plus side is I’ve only had one migraine since I’ve switched. I used to have them each month around the time I’d supposed to have my period.
I asked for a copper one but they inserted a hormonal one that I was reacting to negatively
It shifted and I went 14 days with my dr saying how its prolly just my period and to call back when the bleeding stopped
My husband had to make the appointment cuz they wouldnt remove it while it was still bleeding but was in excruciating pain while its basically shredded my insides
I’ve heard very good things, but the bad things I’ve heard are very very bad
I never had any issues with it and was on it for 5 years!
I had to have mine surgically removed
Really happy with mine, best birth control in my opinion.
My first one was copper…had nothing but constant heavy bleeding all the time it was in place. Would never recommend it as it works by leaking copper into your body
Changed it for þhe mirena and never looked back. Bleeding stopped completely after a couple of months
I had a horrible miscarriage that caused to almost have to get a blood transfusion and than 2 months later fell pregnant with my 3rd son on it.
I just got it a few weeks back and so far so good, ive seen no changes in my body, have had no cramps or anything. When i had the hormonal IUD i had to take it out within a month because the pain i had everyday was horrible to the point i couldnt even stand straight
It fell out of place and I got pregnant with my daughter. Only held up for a year but I’m glad I have her. It worked great for me though other than that.
I’ve had mine for almost 2 years and I love it! No issues so far
I love it i feel normal and still have periods but my cramps are a little stronger but i rather have that then go through hell with mirena
Pain in the ass checking it every month, so unless you just like “fingering” yourself, I didn’t care for it.
I am on my 2nd Paragard. Been on it since 2010. And the best decision I made for birth control. I do have a bit heavy periods, cramping, and more achiness in general. But I’ll take that over hormonal pills that made my mood swings really bad.
