Has anyone gotten an iron infusion?

Any of you ladies have to get an iron infusion?! I’m 28 weeks and 4 days with my second baby. Just curious as to what I should be expecting? Thank you in advance.

I have. It was easy. Like an IV. Just have to hang out for awhile, over certain doses, to make sure you accept it okay.

I had a blood transfusion when I was pregnant with my oldest and recently had 3 iron infusions after I had my second daughter … super quick and easy. Nothing at all to worry about, bring a book and read for an hour.

I did. It’s very cold so it may hurt going in at first but just tell them and they can help. I just played on my phone. Just sit back and relax. It’ll be over before you know it!!!

Oh it felt so good when I was pregnant and anemic. I could breathe again!

I had I think 2 before switching insurances. I can’t remember if it was the season (holidays) or the infusion, but I didn’t feel to great the day after… but after that first full day I felt amazing!

I’ve had 2 infusion. Mine was done in 2 sessions 2 weeks apart. After my first one I had so much energy the next day felt amazing!

Me!! I didn’t have any side effects!! I felt amazing afterwards:)

I did after I had my daughter it’s a simple IV with a small bag

Yes. Best thing ever! Way better than iron pills. No stomach issues or metallic taste.

Feels weird, cold going in, but not painful. I was so sick from the pills it was a welcome change!

I did while I was pregnant i was in there for like 4 hours it sucked but very easy

I did 3 days before I gave birth! Honestly the Benadryl they gave me right before the drop was the best nap I had all pregnancy💀I was there all day but it didn’t hurt or anything. Just make sure to bring a phone charger and something to keep you busy

My sister did and it made her sick.

It’s basically an IV hooked up to you.

I had to do them. They’re not too awful, I could feel the iron spreading in my veins. Kinda weird but not too big of a deal.

I had one a couple of weeks ago, was there for about an hour. They do observations on you and baby for around 20 mins, then if all ok. They’ll put the IV canular in and hook up the bag of iron to administer. Took around 15 mins. Then had 2nd lot of obs after, just to make sure there are no adverse effects. If all ok you’re sent on your merry way.

I had one and ended up being allergic to the type of iron they used. Had a really bad reaction. Just stay away if you get itchy or anything let them know ASAP.

I had 4 rounds of iv Iron. It is super easy nothing to worry about they will put you in A room and place an iv and hook you up. You will have the blood pressure and o2 taken every 10-15 minuets while you are hooked up… after completion they will normally make you stay for about 30min to make sure you don’t have a reaction. Bring a book or phone charger and a water bottle…

It’s not bad, you may feel kind of flu like for a couple days after.
