Has anyone here gotten a hysterectomy? I’m getting one on Monday and I’m extremely nervous. Idk what I’ll need for recover, or how it will go. I have to stay in the hospital from Monday morning to Wednesday evening. I’m gonna miss my kids so much. What should I expect? Anything to make recovery easier? I’m lost.
I only stayed overnight. Get the prescribed meds before you go home. No lifting until they say so. Do not disregard this. Just follow orders.
Stay on top of your meds for the first few days. Take them as directed. Take gas-x as well. The surgeon will fill you with air during your surgery. You will not be allowed to lift anything. My weight restriction was nothing heavier than a gallon of milk. Also, no pulling/pushing motions, like mopping. Follow these orders to the T.
I had one 20 years ago, of course it is so much different now but it was the best thing for me
Are you having it vaginal, laparoscopic or open?
My special needs daughter had one .She did well probably better then I would have .Prayer and trust in God and your surgeon .
Had mine in 92 I was home next day walking everywhere I felt good no lifting for 6 weeks .I had indometriso bad …best thing I’ve ever did good luck …
Just take it easy for a few days. No heavy lifting and such. Otherwise just chill.
I had a hysterectomy in 2017. I got along amazing. The first week is rough. I recommend wearing the belly band it helped me so much. I wore it for two months or more. I only used rx pain meds while in the hospital ( 2 days) and 1 day at home, then used ibuprofen. I have a high pain tolerance so ibuprofen worked well for me. Do what they say and do not lift over 5 lbs until they tell you that you can. I did exceptionally well and I drove and went back to work after two weeks. But I have a desk job so not strenuous. Good luck to you and you’ll feel so much better. Healing takes time so be patient. I was nervous too but it’s not bad. Hugs
