I really don’t want to get back on birth control. Anyone have their tubes tied or ovariohysterectomy, etc, how was it? How are you now?
I was 23 when I had my tubes tied. I am 39 now
I did at delivery almost 3 years ago and my periods are now so horrifically heavy im considering goinf back on birth control to keep them at bay
I have my uterus only after having twins this last pregnancy and my periods have been terrible since then the cramping and body aches are the worse I’m begging them to take my uterus too!
I am going the route of salpingectomy. (Having them removed rather than tied) just based on my conversations with other mama’s and conducting my own research to compare the two procedures. I refuse to ever touch birth control again myself and I want an absolute zero chance of getting pregnant again. My advice is talk to other moms and ask your Healthcare provider tons of questions to see what is best for you.
Had mine tied at 31. No issues back to normal in less than a week
Tied, a tubal ligation reversal, then tied again
The 1st time was with a vaginal delivery, the extra pain and healing was enough that the 2nd time around I said only if I had a c section and was already open
I had mine done after a C section while I was open. I had no issues HOWEVER I do NOT recommend the belly button method. I know 2 women who have had nothing but horrible pain from it still after 2yrs. So beware
Mine were too I’d when I had my C-section. Best decision!
I had my tubes removed 6 yrs ago. I do have heavy periods now but not sure if it’s related.
Yes…almost 17 years ago. Best decision ever. My periods have always been erratic and heavy so it didn’t change much there.
Your periods may be very heavy for several years, but you don’t have to worry about getting pregnant!
Had mine tied after my last son and it was done through my belly button and I had a horrible time after, my incision’s didn’t want to heal. After I have had horrible cramping and the heaviest periods with clots ever since. Up until very recently I was still on the depo shot to stop my periods. Would still be but no longer have insurance
Had mine during my c section. My periods ain’t bad.
I am one year post having mine taken out today! My insicions are by my belly button. There are 3. I was down for about a week. My periods are so irregular.
0/10 would not recommend. Everything changed after.
I got mine after I had my daughter. My cycle is irregular now, some are short and light and some are heavy and long, and cramps are horrible for the first couple of days.
I had my tubes removed nearly two years ago. Now my periods are that heavy I need blood transfusions and iron infusions every six months or so. They are that heavy I miss work some months
I had my tubes tied 11 yrs ago during the csection with my 3rd child, and ever since then my periods are really heavy and now irregular ( every 35 days ) its been really horrible and those days i cant leave the house let alone go to work and i work on the registers at woolworths, low iron , fatigue and the cramps are unbearable
Im now back on the pill and thinking about the iud down the track to control the heaviness. Crossing my fingers it helps a little. I’m also getting tested for perimenopause as I’m 40 in 3 months. And i will be pushing for a hysterectomy. No doctor has believed me when I’ve told them my symptoms, they just keep telling me that it’s normal and that I’m still young enough to have more kids ( not going to ever happen since I had my tubes tied) they never ever listen to my concerns.
I had mine tied (a section cut and ends burned) 15 years ago. They went through my belly button and a small incision above my hairline. Barely any discomfort— took some Advil after and was fine. I always had heavier periods, so no difference there for me. No regrets.
I had my tubes tied almost 13 years ago through my belly button. The pain is horrible but, it only lasted maybe a couple weeks. My cycle can get a little weird, irregular and sometimes unusual flow (could be light or heavy) but no problems.
Had my tubes tied in '08 got pregnant in '17 and had my ovaries removed in '18. My periods are a bit heavy now not sure it’s related. They went through my belly button and it took a few days to get back to my normal day to day. I’ve never had any issues otherwise
My periods got heavy after a few years. I ended up getting a uterine ablation a few months ago and it lessened them to very minimal…
They’re no longer “tie your tubes”. They take your tubes. It lessens the risk of cancer
I had mine done in 06 and had to go on bc to control my cycles the cramping and bleeding was AWFUL! at one point i was on narcotic pain meds and that didnt help.
I got extremely heavy periods after and still needed both control just to control and regulate my periods. FYI having your tubes tied is not 100% effective. There’s still like 1 in 200 chance of getting pregnant.
It was the best thing I’ve done for myself. I did not want any more kids and this was the best way to ensure that I’d never be pregnant again.
I had clamps out on my tubes. Recovery was painful. I have had no issues from it. My periods are not bad either. I have nothing bad to say about it.
I had them take my tubes completely out. Was completely recovered in 3 days. Bleeding was a little annoying but didn’t last long.
