Has anyones 9 month old used a pillow?

Curious if anyone has used a pillow with their 9 month old. I do not use a pillow while they’re sleeping in their crib but when he takes naps in my bed he loves to snuggle up and lay on my pillow and he sleeps so much better with a pillow. I am curious to see if anyone has used a pillow before 1 years old.

My 17 month old doesn’t have a pillow in her crib. If she lays with me in the big bed of course she uses my pillow. She just doesn’t like it in her crib and will throw it over if she has one. Personally I’d wait till 1 just for my own comfort

My son used one in his crib at that age, but I put it under the fitted sheet so he couldn’t move it.

The recommended age is 2 due to suffocation issues. Why risk it?

I’ve used pillows with my kids. They loved laying on the pillow and was the only way they slept. They were rolling over before 2 months old. My oldest is 7, my middle is 5 and my youngest is 2 months old currently in the hospital and lays on a pillow

Mine had a pillow since birth

All my 6 kids have used pillows since newborn ( they are now 16,15,14,13,9 and 18 months ) never had an issue

I would say it depends on how strong your baby is. I let my baby sleep with a small stiffer pillow around 8 months. She could move around with ease (crawl, roll, ect)

My child isn’t 2 yet and lemme tell you… you take her pillow or blanket and she’s gonna be pi$$ed tf off. She has a neck pillow she sleeps with bc her pop pop had one and she loves it.

I’ve followed this rule with my 2 kids and considering I’ve kept one alive for 11 years and the other is almost 2… if they can move freely, and confidently… they won’t suffocate. I taught them early with peek-a-boo how to pull anything off their face. Once she was fully capable of getting “unstuck” i was fine with her having blanket/pillow. Half the time she winds up on her belly, knees tucked and arms tucked. But she loves being tucked in at night with her pillow and blankets AND stuffed animals.

Babies CAN easily suffocate… toddlers not so much. I also have a video feed baby monitor I keep on. I get these recommendations but at some point we have to take what they say and measure it against our children. These are all guidelines not end all rules. Just use your discretion if you think your baby/toddler is ready.
Like I said, mine loved having pillows and blankets and wouldn’t sleep without them once they found out what they were :rofl:
Mother of 2 very smart children.
