Help tips on promoting breaskmilk to come in?

Can any give helpful tips on promoting lactation and milk supply before giving birth? I’ve got about 3 1/2 weeks to go until the due date and am wanting to attempt to stock up on my milk supply, but I don’t seem to be having much luck, unfortunately.

I’m confused. Your breastmilk won’t come in until about 3 days after baby is born.

You can get recipes for lactation cookies online and they helped me increase my supply

stock up on lactation cookies and tea, and Pedialyte
once the baby arrives feed on demand

Your placenta detaching from the uterine wall is what signals your milk to come in. Not sure who told you otherwise, but they are incorrect. And anyone who does produce prior to is just by chance. This can cause preterm labor.

You don’t really want your milk to come this early because lactation can start early labor. Plus, you really want your baby to get those first few days of colostrum. If after your baby is born you have low supply try brewer’s yeast. I had to take it with my daughter because I wasnt producing enough milk

You may have colostrum now but your breastmilk wont start to come in until around day 3 after birth.
Your placenta needs to be detached from your uterine wall before you can produce actual milk. You can express colostrum and save it into sterile syringes, date and freeze them to give to baby when they are born (or save and use for minor skin irritations and non-yeast diaper rashes). I’m only 31 weeks but need to express because of painful engorgement, and in a few weeks I will start to save in this way.

I had drops until birth after that I could pump ounces. Don’t stress mama it’ll happen.

I always read that you’re not suppose to prep for breast feeding in that manner. The colostrum is super super important for baby.

I would advise starting to use lanolin on your nipples though. The first week and a half is painful.

Actual breastmilk comes in about 2-3 days after giving birth, mine came in usually on the day they sent me home from the hospital when I had all 4 of my kids. My 5 month old is still breastfed and honestly I drink 6-8 bottles of strawberry banana body armor drinks per day, staying hydrated is the key to good milk production. And I eat probably 5-6 times a day because I’m hungry all the time, they say breastfeeding makes you hungry lol

I leaked colostrum for about 2-3 weeks before my daughter came… (not sure why). Eat healthy, get on a multivitamin formulated for pre-natal and then post-natal (or baby will suck you ragged), and drink water. More water than you’d think or even want to.

Your body’s probably not gonna make milk until baby is out. However when he did come out I immediately started pumping it really helped me get ahead

You absolutely don’t want to lactate early your baby will miss out on colostrum and you can start preterm labour

All you’ll have right now is colostrum, but be careful cause you can cause early labor. Breast milk doesn’t come in until 3ish days after your baby is born. In the meantime I’d start researching lactation supplements, I made myself bomb cookies with recipes off Pinterest that helped a ton once I had my daughter

Your milk doesn’t come in until after baby is born. Once baby is born and your placenta comes out, your brain sends signals to your body to start producing. Not before baby comes out.

You don’t want to pump. That’ll typically cause labor.

Just wait for your baby to be born.

Baby needs the colostrum that you are trying to flush away…
Milk should not come in until 2-3 days after birth. When baby has had 20+ feedings of colostrum.

No honey do not start pumping before baby gets here. One, it could make you go into labor, and two, colostrum is all you’re going to get, and baby needs that.

Yea… your milk isn’t supposed to come in before the baby is born. And pumping during pregnancy can cause (not all the time) preterm labor. Your 36 1/2 weeks which isn’t bad but I still don’t think you want him/her early.

For after baby is here tho if you time your feedings with baby and pump between feedings you can get your supply up pretty quick specially cause baby will be cluster feeding. Peanut butter and eggs helped me a lots -but obviously not if you have an allergy to either. There’s lactation cookies or brownies you can buy -premade or buy the mixs-

DO NOT PUMP WHILE PREGNANT.
Your milk will naturally come in within 2-5 days after baby is born. Just nurse often. Pumping is also not recommended until 6 weeks post partum to avoid an over supply which leads to an increased risk of masititis, and engorgement

I googled this because I was curious my last pregnancy… and usually your body takes the 2-3 days after the placenta detaches from your uterus for your milk to come in. I don’t think you can just start making tons of milk.

Ur not supposed to pump before birth…

You won’t get milk before baby. You may get colostrum, but milk isnt for a few days after birth.

Your milk doesn’t come in until the placenta detaches.

You actually can produce milk without the placenta detaching “signalling the milk to come in”. What actually makes milk come is nipple stimulation. Prolactin (a hormone) acts on receptors in your breasts fo reduce milk. Anybody can induce lactation. And some women are still nursing other children while pregnant.

Your not supposed to start messing with your milk until after you give birth. It can send you into labor early.

Ummm you aren’t supposed pump or anything like that before baby comes… you would know this if you asked your doctor.

Make sure to keep on taking your prenatals after baby is born and eat alot of oatmeal and dairy based products

Don’t promote your milk to come in just yet. It’ll cause you to go into labor early (mom of two premie babies. I didn’t make it come in). There is lots of helpful recipes and tips on Pinterest though.

Your milk will come in 2 or 3 days after you deliver

If your concerned about when bub is born that you won’t have enough supply don’t pump at all once bub is born takes a few days for proper milk to come through once this does consider talking to midwife what’s best way to keep the milk flow coming in another thing you can buy is booby bickies

Have you spoken to your OB about this? Its normally somewhat frowned apon before birth. Due to several reasons. One being it can put you into labor (the hormones released while trying to pump) and also your body self regulates breastmilk as supply and demand. Once your baby is born lots of skin to skin and pumping the side your baby hasn’t fed off of.

You have to wait,it comes in after giving birth,be patient, all in good time. You’ll know when it comes in, trust me. Right now you have pregnancy hormones . I was a breastfeeding counselor for the WIC program

Don’t even worry. When baby is born latch within the hour. Colostrum is enough for the first few days and their suckling will cause your milk to come in. Your supply will come in and regulate after baby not before. I wouldn’t do too much now. I’d definitely seek a consult with a lactation consultant as it seems as though some education on breastfeeding is needed .

Your body will not produce milk until the placenta is born and releases the hormones needed to then make milk. Also pumping while pregnant isnt safe as it can put you into preterm labor. But dont stress your body will make milk and you can start pumping and stocking once your milk comes in.

Do not stress right now! That’s part of the problem. Your body knows when to do all the work! Keep hydrated!

NEVER PUMP BEFORE giving birth…

Your milk comes in after your body is triggered by hormones released after birth. Usually by day 4 your milk comes in. Pumping before birth can, not always, cause strong enough contractions to induce labor. You should not worry about stocking up now, or much later. It is best to wait until 4 weeks post partum before trying to gain extra on purpose.
