Hey Mamas! My little one has finally started to take her first steps! She’s my first and so I’m not sure what the best shoe is for her? Does anyone have any suggestions? Where did you get your child’s first pairs of shoes?

Dillard’s Stride Rite brand

Need to have ankle support.

Clark’s 100% they measure them properly and have better support c

Clarks won’t fit properly walking shoes until they can work confidently. Keep her bare foot apart from when ur outside obviously so that she can get the confidence and security to walk then add the walkers shoes. But deffo clarks xx

I just used a basic sneaker from Walmart with good traction. In the house I let my kids walk around without shoes, barefoot or with grippy socks. There is no real need to overspend in shoes they will outgrow very fast anyways.

I let them run around the house in socks. I didn’t think shoes were necessary until they were older, or for outdoors of course.

We loved Robeez. They were the only shoe that stayed on.

Doesn’t really matter, just buy them XL so you don’t have to buy them twice…

Why do you keep posting this question? I’ve seen it like 6x already… please STOP. :woman_facepalming:t2:

My youngest was 3 before she got shoes. She wouldn’t keep them on, she ran everywhere and climbed everything. I finally told her she could go to “big girl” school (pre-school) unless she wore shoes. So she got good sneakers. At 4 she got cowboy boots and never took them off.

We had stride rite Back in the day and one kick from those things and your shin would be destroyed. I think barefoot for a while is just fine. Talk to your pediatrician

Mine went barefoot unless we were out. They are now in their late 40s and have no foot issues.

We used stride rite for our kiddos first shoes but only for outside if they were going to be walking.

How many times we gonna have this same question answered in a week?

Barefoot is best. My grandma always used to say if God would have meant for babies to have shoes, he would have put them on their feet.

Don’t until walking good and by walking good I mean starting to run , climb stairs …

I suggest asics or new balance when the time comes , they last. Or crocs , my 2yo and 4yo live in crocs :joy:

Robeez! Study’s show the soft soled shoes are best for natural foot and ankle strength development.

When I was a kid they recommended the hard stiff white shoes and I swear I’ve had horrible issues with my ankles and feet my whole life. A lot of ppl my age have undergone surgeries to correct the damage.

I looked into it for mine. Both mine wore Robeez until they out grew them and then we went to Plae shoes for when they got a bit older. Both of my children have great ankles, feet, balance. They’ve never sprained an ankle or anything!

Leaving them barefoot or in socks, helps them walk, at least until they are walking all the time

My daughter’s 1st shoes were from either target or walmart

Stride rite for babies. They are made for new walkers

Do a soft sole shoe and socks they need to be able to feel the ground if possible, so barefoot as much as possible!

Robeez or two tiny feet Robeez

My daughter didn’t her shoes until she was 1. We got her Robeez. Even then I only had her wear them sparingly. She’d wear them to the park although I’d frequently take them off of her so she could feel the grass and sand. At about 15 months she got tennis shoes. She’d wear them when we were out and about. If she was outside at our house I would have her go barefoot if it was warm enough

I have seen this post 4 times now… Have you not gotten enough recommendations? :woman_facepalming::rofl:

My dr always said bare feet were best but of course in winter it’s not feasible so I just bought a fairly inexpensive pair at Walmart, just make sure they aren’t too stiff, just see if you can bend them in your hands. Their feet will grow super fast so don’t buy anything too expensive

I saw a recent question just like this so hold on because the mamas are going to come out….

My go to is Robeez! Soft sole shoes with wiggle room for toes and natural splay of the growing feet.

No shoes until they are really steady on their feet. Shoes will just make it worse. So I’d suggest closer to 2years old for shoes

Bare feet are best for first steps, we were recommended to use wellys for outside walking as much as possible while bubs got bigger as cause no restrictions

You need a soft soled shoe to begin with. Carters, Walmart, target… let your baby walk bare foot for a while to begin with.

Let your baby go barefoot at home. It will improve balance

Don’t get shoes until it’s necessary. A baby’s foot is still growing and molding to them so when you put shoes on it messes that up. You want them to walk barefoot as much as possible.

Grippy socks … no shoes as long as can

Some recommendations are barefoot, others are something that has ankle support. My 5 wore Stridrites full leather shoes.

Never wore shoes, wore socks with grips.

Stride right first steps are great!

Weve always used Clarks for first shoes

Clarks as they measure there feet and are very patient with little one

That was Striderite Shoestore.

Golden Boot in Maidstone. They do Clarks , Startrite & Bobux

Shoes need soft bend, not stiff. Good arches and breathable material, preferably leather. And room by the toes.

Striderite white hardsoles

Soft shoe, have fingers width room at toes, wide enough, flexible sole, just for protection, sneaker type…hard shoes used for Orthopedic correction…Enjoy!

My kids were both born in the 70’s and they wore stride rite high white shoes but I don’t think they sell anything like that.

My daughter wss born in 1980, so maybe this is old fashioned, but her first shoes were from Stride Rite.

I’ve seen alot of parents painting them too.

They need to be hard bottom

StrideRite used to be a thing not sure if they make them anymore

We used high top stride rite shoes. They were walking shoes.

No shoes. Let those feet develop naturally!

I liked Stride Rite for my three kids. They’re great!

Let her walk barefoot until she is steady on her feet then look at getting her shoes

Stride Rites
I only used them for going outside and out in public. Babies learn best with bare feet.

Inside the house if you have hard floors they make socks with little grippies on the bottom

Bare foot is best, it lets their feet develop naturally. Shoes only if you’re going out and she needs protection for her little feet. Research has shown shoes are not good for development of feet or balance. IF you need shoes for something get soft soled.

Barefoot is the best foot!

Bare feet don’t squish those feet into hard shoes

If your going to use shoes use soft sole shoes not hard ones until they are walking walking

Barefoot as much as possible!

Something with a solid sole … stride rite or buster brown

She needs flexible soles.

Anything they will keep on their feet :joy:

Shoes for a new walker should have flexible soles. And inside barefoot or socks with grips are best. Have to allow them to develop their arches. Good luck!

No shoes. They never stay on anyway.

Buster Brown leather shoes are the best with flat bottoms!

Don’t buy shoes til you have too a lifetime to wear shoes x

These encourage steps because they make a cute sqeek noise

Of course they have girl shoes just giving you an idea

Stride rite has great starter shoes that are just fabric/leather so it is like going barefoot, but anti slip and keep their tootsies warm in this nasty cold weather. I just forgot what they call them

Doesn’t need a shoe, they hinder growth. Just get a soft, moccasin type slipper for traction.

In a Buster Brown Shoes store

My kids are in their 30s. When they were babies their pediatrician told me to stay away from still bottom shoes. A lot of new parents were still buying Stride Rite. He suggested good, well made sneakers. More flexible sole would allow easier steps. Sure enough, they were taking steadier, more confident steps within days!

Stride rite is what i bought. But wait till your little one is full on walking.

Robeez were the in thing when my kids were babies

I am only going to echo all the other comments… you don’t need shoes yet. Let her walk around barefoot - it will make it much easier for her xx

Barefoot while indoors and I used Stride Rite shoes while out and about.

I remember getting ours the little ones that almost looked like socks….they are like moccasins

When she gets stable with walking get the best shoes you can afford, get her feet measured properly. As a side note never ever buy second hand shoes for infants it can cause massive damage to growing bones

Just read the post from yesterday, or the day vefore, or before that etc of the exact same question

Another post that just runs over and over. Do not ask FB people questions about your child’s welfare. Do you know how their kids grew up?

Barefoot is beat especially while they are learning to walk

Barefoot first. Then Stride Rite’s

I let all three of my kids be barefoot for as long as possible. When it came time to buy shoes, we went to Stride Rite.
