Hi ladies, I just found out I am pregnant for the second time now. I have a perfectly healthy girl right now. My first pregnancy was fine just a little bout of high blood pressure towards the end but nothing really scary although I did get induced 4 days earlier. I am now 8 weeks pregnant and at my check up today they said my BP was just a little high so they sent me to collect my urine for 24 hours and give to labcorp. I am filled with fear and anxiety. It’s way to early to hear that. Are there any moms who have been through this? What helped you stay calm? Thank you.
I didn’t experience your situation but I have had challenge after challenge with my pregnancy. I meditate Every day, regardless of how I am feeling. I also find that mindfulness activities like coloring or working on a puzzle has helped calmed my excessive worrying.
I had to do that with my first like 6 times. Had her at 34+4 due to high bp and HELLP syndrome. I had to do the 24 hour urine test with my second around that time and that was it. But my bp ran in the 130s low 140s even on meds
Ive always had high BP. [Chronic high BP] So everytime I was pregnant they had to switch my meds. If they do have to end up treating you with meds…I would NOT recommend Methyldopa. It literally almost killed me… it made my liver enzymes astronomically high and I was hospotalized.(I felt like I was dying…and as I researched after they figured out the problem, there were many women with liver problems while taking Methlydopa)…So then they switched my meds to Lebataol which burned my nipples every time I took it… but that was my only option… thank God my tubea are tied now lol
Good Luck.
My daughter came 6 weeks early bc of my blood pressure. She is my 5th kid. Bed rest and take it easy
When I was only 15 weeks pregnant I went to the er and they were so scared about my high BP that they all looked sad and we’re saying I’m so sorry to me (thinking I’d lose the baby) it was so bad they sent me to a better hospital. By the time I got to the other hospital my blood pressure was normal and they monitored me for a few hours and sent me home. I had no more issues with it the rest of the pregnancy
Just remember that stressing out won’t make anything better. It’s gonna be alright. Music always helped me. Coloring is pretty calming too. Good luck sweetie
I was diagnosed with gestational hypertension at 12 weeks with my son. They put me on a baby aspirin a day and had me monitor my blood pressure twice a day. I only had 2 dizzy spells, one time I “saw stars”, and had to do the 24 hour urine test 3 or 4 times. My BP actually stayed pretty level until the end of my 3rd trimester. They ended up inducing me at 37+3 weeks for fear of preeclampsia (my BP actually was in the normal rage during my labor) and my son was born 37+6 weeks. Perfectly healthy, just a little small for his gestational age (5lbs 12oz). Besides that, my pregnancy and birthing experiance were normal. My BP went back to normal by my 2 week check up. They’ll just want to monitor you and have you keep track!
I have to start taking baby aspirin at 11 weeks to lessen my chance of preeclampsia again. Did it with my last one n did good. Hopefully turns out the same with this one
I had pre-eclampsia with my first pregnancy, so it was scary to find out I had high blood pressure with my son too. They had me monitor and log my blood pressure daily, I did a 24 hour collection, kept going between having trace proteins and zero proteins in my urine, was put on baby aspirin by my OB, and had some intermittent bed rest ordered here and there… I also had placenta previa, a subchorionic hemorrhage, and the onset of preterm labor too, along with SPD so bad I couldn’t walk my last two months… I was in and out of the hospital so much this pregnancy.
But I have a healthy 7 week old baby boy now and never developed pre-eclampsia.
Cut back on salt n eat more low sodium things it helps ;”) congratulations on both children
