Hit and almost run

Asking a Friend (Can be posted) Recently, I was in a car accident a few days ago in MD. This car was on the wrong side of the road and the police guided this car into the right direction. I backed up so that car can get in. I continued to back up with my flashers due to other car coming. I honked my horn so that car acknowledged I was there and then, the car full fledged reversed into my car and tried to fleet. Four cops stopped him before he was able to fleet off. It comes to find out that it was 86 years old man and his license has been suspended since 2019. I had 4 payments left until my car was paid off. He has 4 ticket citations. Should I sue this man?

I think you have to do what’s best for you. Aside from the fact that he’s pretty old, which isn’t an excuse to drive with no license, what reason would you have to not sue? If he was younger would you even be asking yourself what to do?

That’s true about the age thing, but however I feel like it was my grandfather I would be stealing from

But are you out to get something you don’t need? I guess I just wouldn’t look at it as stealing if your going for a car that can get you back and forth, now if your trying to sue for emotional damage or whatever else alright maybe reevaluate that. Just don’t empty yourself so that someone else doesn’t have to pay for their mistakes due to age. If your insurance will cover a new vehicle for you then it’s really up to you to decide if your in a financial position to continue payments on a brand new vehicle for however long you’ll be committed to that. That’s not really something we can decide for you.
