How accurate was the ultrasound for your babies weight?

How accurate was your ultrasound for baby’s weight?I’m “high risk” due to gestational diabetes so my doctor ordered an ultrasound to get an estimate of his measurement. I’m due February 11th, however at my scan they told me his estimated weight now is 7lbs and he’s pretty long. (Guess they couldn’t get those measurements because he kept moving so much lol) I feel like I have so much to do still

They told me my first was going to be over 9 lbs and my 36 week he was born 39 weeks and 2 days or so and weighed just over 7 lbs so wayyy off

Was told my daughter was going to be 6.5 lbs and she was 4.14. My son was supposed to be 5lbs he was 6.11lbs.

Told me he would be about 8lbs. He was born at 39 weeks weighing 9lbs 5oz

I was high risk for a number of things and developed gestational diabetes, and they predicted over 9lbs at my 36wk ultrasound and he was 9lbs 1.5oz

With my son also had GD the day before I was jnduced the ultrasound said he was only 6/7lbs… he was 9lbs7oz at birth so it wasn’t very accurate for me we would have induced sooner had we thought he was getting big as he did have shoulder dystocia .

Mine were not accurate at all, said my oldest 20 years old was going to be 4.5lb at birth he weight 6lb 10oz, my middle child 6 year said she was going to weigh 10lbs ( she came at 6lbs 14oz, my youngest was a 33 weeker and they thought he was going to weigh by ultrasound about 3lbs and he weighted 5lbs 9 Oz

A month before I was due, they told me if I went full term my daughter would be over an 8 pound baby. I ended up going past my due date. she was born 6’12. So…

It can be 10% off in either direction I had a weight at 38 weeks and had a scheduled csection at 39 weeks I know her birth weight was within the range

I was told my son would be about 7.5lb at term via ultrasound, he was born 9 days early and was 8lb 3oz. I didn’t have gestational diabetes or anything soo I would say not totally accurate lol

My son was breech. They told me I’d be fine to deliver him vaginally as he was just under 6 lbs. I decided to do the C-section. I was so glad I did. He was 8 lbs 1 oz. Had I tried to deliver vaginally he would have gotten stuck, I could have hemorrhaged, or ended up in an emergency C-section.

Told me my youngest daughter was going to be around 7lbs 11 oz she was 6lbs 11oz so not that far off.

They told me my son was only going to be around 4lbs because I was barely showing. He weighed 7lbs 11oz.

My first one was 9 pounds 2 oz . The one I had gestational diabetes with was my smallest at 8 pounds 1 ounces. Last one was 8 pounds and 15 ounces . Larger than they expected for all

The ultrasound techs were correct and both babies were over 10lbs at birth.

My first was estimated 10 pounds, born at 41+1 and was 6.13, second estimated 8.5 born at 38+3 at 6.15 and my third was also estimated around 8.5 and weighed 6.9 at 40 weeks…. So not very accurate for me lol

My baby “large fetus” at 36 weeks was measuring 7lb 14oz
Gave birth at 39.1 and she was only 7lbs 13oz. So way off lol

Had a growth scan on 11/3 baby was measuring 4lbs 4 ounces. Delivered on 11/7 baby was 4lbs 5 ounces :astonished:!
Crazy how accurate the scan was…

They always think I will have tiny babies because I always measure behind (me size wise) but I’m small to begin with and I throw up a lot. Lol
My first was 7.9lb, second was 7.11lb and my third was 8.5lb. Currently pregnant with #4 and I’m just now starting to show at 21w after I eat all day.
All my babies are tall.
You really don’t have long left, babies don’t gain THAT much weight at the very end. I’m sure he’ll be 7-8lbs!

All ultrasound can be + or - 2 pounds off. I had GD too. They estimated my son was only going to be 2 pounds when I went into labor at 32 weeks… he was 4 pounds 8 ounces. They swore my due date had to be wrong but we did ivf so due date was completely correct

both times told my babies would be 8-9+ lbs
my first was a little over 7lbs
my second was under 7lbs lol

I was told my son was going to be close to 9lbs at birth, the kid was 7 lbs 6 oz.

I was told he would be over 9 lbs. He was 6lb 12 oz.

Mine were both below what they said they would be. First one they said about 3.9kgs and he was 3.1kgs. 2nd they also 3.8kgs and he was a dinky 2.9kgs

When I had GD they said my daughter was weighing over 12 lbs. She was born 10lb 3oz

Both my kids were within a couple ounces

My first was estimated to be 7 1/2 lbs a few days before I delivered. She turned out to be 5 lbs 5 oz so it was off by a couple lbs.

They told me 10lbs. She was 6lbs 13 Oz.

My first they induced at 39wks because the estimate was 10.7 lbs …came out 6lbs 9oz
My twins scan at 34 weeks put them 2lbs 4oz and 1lb 8oz born 35wks exact 5lbs 7oz and 5lbs 13oz … they are just guesses and are often wrong

Was told my first would weigh around 6.5 pounds. 5 days after my due date. She was born 4 days later at 21 inches and 9 pounds.

My second one they said was measuring big and she came out my smallest so far at 8lbs 8 oz.

My 3rd was measuring fine until the last month or so and she came out way bigger than expected at 9 lbs 12 oz.

I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant with twins and my girl is measuring at almost 35 weeks and 5 pounds and my son is measuring at 33.5 weeks and is measuring 4.5 pounds.

Although I had big babies they are tall. My oldest is just as tall as me and she just turned 13. But that’s what happens when in the shortest by almost a foot of all of my siblings too. :sob:

Not at all. None of my three were.

I had gestational diabetes with both… both time they tried to induce me early due to the baby measuring big(according to dr) they did not measure bug on ultrasounds both times my babies were perfectly normal and my second I refused to be induced early was scheduled at 40wks but went into labor on my own… do your research and listen to your gut induction for gd isn’t something that you have to have even though doctors will tell you different… if your blood sugar was well managed your baby will most likely be fine

I had big babies

  1. 9.9
  2. 9.6
    3.11.0
    4.10.13

All natural…no stitches except for first.

My 1st was told big head and prepare for a big baby he ended up being 5lbs 2nd was told too small ended up being 6lbs 3rd was told average ended up being 6lbs 4th ( currently pregnant ) been sent for a few scans cause they were worried about baby being big but they are saying they are happy atm with how she is growing, I never really take what they say as all my pregnancies have been stuffed around with scans and appointments

GD doesn’t really make you high risk unless you can get your numbers under control, but as far as the ultrasound goes it’s not extremely accurate…

Baby #2 was estimated at 7# during week 38 ultrasound and ended up being 8lbs.3 oz

#3 was thought to be 30th percentile and small
Was 6/bs.10 0z

I’m due with #4 Feb 14th and he’s measuring 70th percentile

Well I only had one with one out of four kids because she measured bigger but then they tried to tell me she was sixish lbs. I told him he’s a liar and an idiot because I could feel she was bigger than that. She was 10.1 at birth :unamused::unamused:

My daughter said the same at my 38 weeks scan. She was born the next day at 6lbs 6 ounces. It’s just an estimate

I delivered 2 weeks early with both my kids due to gestational diabetes… 7lb 4oz /8lb9oz
Now I’m on insulin gestational is giving you a heads up for your future take it serious

Estimated 7 1/2lbs. Came out full term 5 1/2lbs

when i had my oldest girl i had fetal assessment the day before she was born, was told baby is about 6.5 pounds.
Baby was born less than 12 hours later weighing 8.9 pounds

My tech was spot on 38 years ago. She said "girl, 8#, mid October "
I started labor on October 15th* delivered a girl* 7# 14oz

If you’re at risk GD then just listen tbh. It’s too risky

My baby measured 8lb 7oz at my 37 week ultrasound. She was born at 39 weeks and weighed 8lb4oz.

I was told my babies were going to be big…
First 6 lbs 10 ounces
Second 6 lbs :man_shrugging:

Not always. My son was supposed to be 8-9lbs and he was 6lbs. My daughter was a premature and was only 5lbs.

My son was measure over 10lbs 2 weeks for my due date, they ended up inducing me and he was 7lbs 9 oz 21 1/2 inches long

Completely OFF with a 3D ultrasound two days before. It’s added stress, pay no mind! They’re guessing or the equipment they use is shit
