How can I find out my babies blood type?

You can go online and find an “Any Lab Test Now” near you and request the test to be done at your own expense.

I was told my kids at Birth, it was on their shot records.

It’s in the official medical record. I’m not sure if that info is in the discharge papers, but I’m pretty sure that it’s not. So, if you delivered at a hospital, you can request the info, usually for a small fee.

It’s not in little red books at least it wasn’t in mine because I really wanted to know my blood group. I rang my drs who told me they couldn’t tell me unless I’d had a blood transfusion because they don’t keep that information on record (bare in mind I’ve probably had over 100 blood tests in the last 5 years!) I ended up asking a nurse when I had a preoperative assessment for surgery in November who was happy to tell me

They tested my kids when they were born and I can see it in the app, we have Kaiser

It’s on your discharge paperwork after birth if it was sent to your gp they will have it x

If you give blood at blood banks they will tell you if you check back with them. I know it doesn’t help for a toddler.

Did they not tell u at the hospital when your child was born in northern Ireland they do

Is it not in the little red book? If not your doctor should be able to tell you as it would be on record from birth.

My son is A+ and my daughter is O+ they were both tested soon after they were born and they told us before they left the hospital it very important to know their blood type

They get that with the heal prick when they’re born. My first and third are my blood type and my 2nd is my husbands. The third born was the tie breaker. I won :joy:

Go to s hospital
Al ln should be tested at birth I think

Don’t ever let your pediatrician tell you that something you want to know about your child
is not important . Demand the blood type. If he doesn’t have it in the records then he should tell you that. At that point, you can request the test from him or go to any lab that takes direct appointments. You will likely have to pay for it out of pocket because I don’t believe insurance covers random blood type testing.

They should have told you when she was born…

I’m O- and my sons O+ so I had to get 2 RH shots to prevent of blood infection that could have killed us both… the doctors had to tell me my sons blood type right away.

There are a lot of comments so I’m not sure if it’s been said before but you can buy a blood typing kit from Amazon or cvs for $20. My husbands ex bought my step daughters one after she found out my sons was different than mine and what she thought my husbands was. Lol I’m rh negative so I knew mine from my first pregnancy. Both my kids are positive.
