How can I get my 14 month old to sleep through the night?

HELP!! my 14 month old still wakes multiple times a night. Sometimes I’ll give a bottle (no judgment about that please and thanks) and it’ll help but I obviously want to stop that. Even that’s not working much anymore. It’s like 5 times per night the last 2 weeks. He’s never slept through the night. I’ll go in rub his back give him a soother and do this on repeat all night. Me and my SO are All reactions:

I did this forever. Sometimes tried to skip it. As long as I could stand it. I ended up doing a bottle and rocking to sleep about 4-5 and putting my extremely colicky daughter in a swing. It worked till About 12 mos. Till she got over it and too big for swing

My son right now is almost 11 months old. he wakes up between 1 and 3am.

But he’s teething and get over a stomach virus. so he’s waking up more and more. I’m exhausted. and sometimes he doesn’t even need a bottle. I just set him on my pillow like I was about to feed him and he’s fast asleep.

It’s biologically normal for them to wake up. We still wake up for a drink or to go to the bathroom. I wouldn’t change anything. Just have to ride it out

My daughter didn’t sleep through the night until after she was a year old. I learned to give her a nice filling snack just before bed and to limit her water so she wasn’t sleeping with a full diaper. I also switched her to pampers swaddlers overnights because they made her feel the most dry. Make sure he is fed dry and warm and if that doesn’t work you may just be stuck with a needy little guy. I also would wait a few minutes before going into the room by her to give herself a chance to soothe herself if she could. My daughter never took a nuk but maybe if he’s struggling at night you could fill his bed with nuks so he could easily find one to go back to sleep himself

My son woke up till about that age to eat every like 3 hours :roll_eyes:He was always a big eater he came out eating 2-3 Oz a feeding…He just went to bed one night and slept through out of nowhere…

Stop going in there. Took my baby about a week. Wasn’t easy, but that’s what it took.

Can you give him some toys and let him play? Or is he still in a crib?

Do not go in his room. NO Melatonin!

Cut out anything that may have sugar in it after 4pm. Even fruit. Stick to bland foods for a week or two and see if that helps.

Maybe just wear his little butt out before dinner and give him a nice big meal and a sippy cup with chamomile or vanilla sleepytime tea warm.

My son is almost 3 and if I don’t wear him out with playing or him and his sister playing outside or something, he is HARD to get to bed. Wakes up once some nights but mostly sleeps through till about 7-8am .

I truly hope that helps. Melatonin can mess with their natural production, don’t do that at this age. Wayyyyy too young for all that in my opinion.

Sleep train. Make sure he is full and warm before bed. If you find he’s actually hungry give like banana or something heavy 30 min before. My twins are 19 months they don’t wake each other in the same room. Ferber method worked soooooo well. Look it up… you don’t need to buy any program.

Sleep train. Don’t go in. Made the same mistake you’re doing with our daughter… she didn’t sleep on her own till almost 4! With my now 21 month old son… we sleep trained and he’s slept through the night from 9 months old. It’s hard but in 7-9 days your life will be amazing and you’ll look back happy you made that decision.

honestly, and this is not judgment, but your habit of giving him the bottle is doing you no good for getting him to bed without waking each night.
find a new thing he can cling to and find comfort with. a stuffed toy, a blanket etc. also if you get a night light that lights up the room that plays a song those are magic.

Give him rice cereal in his bottle . Diluted down to drink. Or feed him a few spoonfuls before bed. He will sleep he is hungry.
