How can I get my 9-month-old to stay asleep?

I have an almost 9 month old. Lately she’s been waking up every night in tears, and she will not go back to sleep until I hold her, usually in bed. Once she’s asleep I try to put her back down and she wakes up screaming again. It’s been like that for like 5 nights now, and getting her to sleep at night has been a struggle. I don’t mind the late night snuggles, but she’s been a great sleeper since she was 5 months old. What changed? Is it some from of separation anxiety? Is it normal for babies?

Around this age they do go through separation anxiety, its a normal phase of development but it’s hard work!
I’d definitely get her checked over just to make sure it’s not her ears xx

Totally normal. All babies and kids go through sleep regressions. They just need some extra comfort sometimes. It can be exhausting but it’s normal. My son didn’t start sleeping through the night until he was about 18 months old so I’m jealous you got some full nights of sleep way before then!

Teething and night terrors

Developmental stage…usually coincides with big jumps in ability

Sounds like you hit the 9 month sleep regression combined with some teething discomfort. Rocking my son and comforting him back to sleep, being very patient with him as well. It lasts a couple weeks.

Try setting a routine , if you haven’t , like a walk , supper , bath with lavender a little baby massage and cut her liquids after 6 to half normal amount . But this is normal .

Prob a sleep regression. They change. Just have to deal w it until they find their way back to a pattern. Could be teething too. Nightmares.

What does the pediatrician say?

Totally normal. Welcome to motherhood. It’s a blast, right? I just co slept with my kiddos until they were ready to transition to their own beds. The youngest gave me a bit of a hard time. We started at a year and she was in her own bed in a year.

With a baby it can be anything teething, changes like bedroom lights

She could be in pain with teething

She will be getting her back teeth :tooth: they the most painful ones x

She may be cutting difficult teeth.
