i need help! my little just turned 2 & she’s in the 11th percentile for her weight… dr says she wants to see her gain some weight. my issue is she’s not a huge eater, she just likes snacks. can yall suggest some good protein rich snacks? or what else i can do to help her out?
Do some smoothies! My kids love banana with blueberries and peanut butter. Tons of protein. You can put some veggies in it too or some chia seeds for more protein
Surely if the docuors are worried they should be helping her, especially with her not being a big eater.
My daughters 3 and a half and isn’t a big eater, she only eats
Certain foods, won’t eat any fruit veg or meat! But her weight is absolutely fine
PB&J, Pediasure smoothies but I’m thin so she is too. Insurance sent her pediasure and paid for it
Let her help you make some special milk. In her fav cup put some milk, Greek yogurt, and a pouch of stage 2 baby food (a fruit and veggie preferably) and put on the lid then let her shake it to mix it up, sing a song, etc so she’s excited to drink it (she doesn’t necessarily need to see what you put in the cup just bring it to her to shake). You can do smoothies or milkshakes with added Greek yogurt, fruits and veggies and PB if she’s not allergic but my daughter couldn’t handle the sound of the blender so this worked better for us
Stop giving her snacks. Give her real food. Milk.
Starches rice,corn,bread(banana bread),potatoes,noodles
My kiddo struggles with this as well!
I’m struggling with my 2 daughter’s to gain weight and both are not the best of eaters although my almost 6 year old is better at eating than my soon to be 7 year old.
Pediasure is what I give my 2 year old. My daughter is in a low percentile as well. Her pediatrician said that she was growing right for her right since birth though.
You would think that her doctor would have recommended something or maybe even sent you guys to a nutritionist what’s wrong with the health care system, nowadays? good luck. There’s a lot of great ideas in these comments!
try some peiasure i had to do that with my youngest but dont worry to much into it my youngest is still tiny for a now 12 yr old. as long as eating good is she energetic to
I had the same issue with my toddler. Ended up seeing a pediatric GI and spoke to the nutritionist. She suggested orgain protein shakes and not the infant kind but the regular. We also found that my toddler had a dairy allergy which restricted even more food choices and Orgain had a plant based vanilla shake. We mixed it with almond milk.
When my daughter registered on the weight scale, it was never higher than 5th percentile. She grew up just fine. Let her be-don’t make a big deal out of food as long as she’s healthy
Milk, pediasure, meat (beef bologna, chicken corn dogs, beef breakfast sausage). Make breads/muffins/waffles/pancakes with ground up veggies and fruit, peanut butter, make your own pizzas and let her help, eggs with cheese/ketchup, yogurt/cottage cheese with fruit, stuffed noodles with cheese meat and veggies in red or white sauce, mashed potatoes with cheese and sour cream, use bone broth when you make noodles or rice. I have to do all these things to get my toddler to eat too, but he’s not underweight he just doesn’t like anything so I have to get extra creative on everything but he does love his milk.
My grandson was like that. The said to gravy on potatoes and meat if he likes. Peanut butter sandwiches , crackers. Lots of foods a put weight on him.
“Snacks” is the issue. I’d take a snack over real food too.
Milkshakes made with Carnation instant breakfast is what was suggested by a Dr for my son
your Dr should have given you a diet for lo to try to follow.
gogo squeezes have yogurts, I’d offer a lot of those. offer food all the time! whatever your eating, push proteins like cheese, fish sticks chicken nuggets (I’ve had picky low eaters) and those 2 meats were popular. people say whatever they want, but it fed my picky kid and he gained good.
avocado is a good one to gain good fats, if lo will eat it. if not try to smash it and hide in mac n cheese.
My daughter’s doctor had me give her lots of sour cream on anything she would eat it on. The same with mayonnaise and cream cheese.
