DHS can give you the paper work.

You go to the court and file for it.

If you are low income, you should be able to get help for free. I went to Friend of the Court (what it’s called in Michigan) and they helped me for free.

I knew I wasnt going to get anything from my daughters sperm donor, she will b 3 in February and hes never even met her.id rather him stay out of her life an not mess with her head and I take care of her instead of paying child support and being in an out ,messing with her head like he does his other kids. You dont have to have a lawyer, just fill out the paperwork

A lot of colleges have programs for low income people that matches them up with students or grads from their legal departments. I would try that. But aside from that you do not need a lawyer to file for child support. Contact your local agency and they usually will mail the paperwork right to you. It is minimal filing fees usually. If you are recieving assistance they usually have resources to direct and support you. Good luck. Don’t give up.

You DO NOT NEED AN ATTORNEY FOR CHILD SUPPORT!!

You haven’t tried Google because?? :woman_facepalming:

You don’t need a lawyer. You will have the prosecutor on your side

https://online.hfs.illinois.gov/online/entry-flow.htm?execution=e1s1

don’t waste your money on a lawyer. you can read the laws online and do it yourself. you have to file with whatever county you reside in and then they give you a hearing.

Family court. Dont go to social services. They wont give you the full amount. Depending on the state. Just apply. And see if u can get a paralegals advice (free consultation) … So u can get more then what the court will suggest. Day care. Half for food. Insurance. School supplies. costumes. Travel expenses.

Get some. Help with children and family services. My grandaughter had a similar ptoblem. It isn’t a choice for him. Good luck.

It depends, is he on the birth certificate? If so just go to child support and say you want them to start garnishing his checks and also that you want back support. If he didn’t sign a paternity affidavit and doesn’t believe he is the father he can request a paternity test and if it comes back that he is they can go after him for child support but if you never told him he had a child and just kept the child from him and plan to just expect to go back 2 years to get paid you’re a horrible, heartless individual who is nothing but money hungry.

Contact Soc. Services, they’ll help you!!

Here in arkansas if you have any kind of govt assistance (food stamps, Medicaid) you are required to file with child support but they do it all fior you. You just have to cooperate by giving them the father’s info or you can be denied benefits

Child support enforcement

In Kentucky you can file online. You give as much info on dad as you can and they’ll locate and serve and go from there. It’s all free. When he’s located they’ll look at both incomes and set a court date to order it and they’ll garnish it straight from their check and give it to you every week.

Took me about 5 weeks start to finish between filing and getting the garnishments in my account.

Apply for help department of human services they will go after him for you.

Contact child support office. Depending on your local office you may be able to start it over the phone.
Request a DNA test bc chances are he’s gonna try to deny it. Jokes on him if he denies it bc the he pays the office back for the test. They will look at your income and his and how much time he visits the child.

In Oklahoma they have a Child Support division go there they will have a hearing and tell him hiw much he has to pay hope u have one in Illinois

Courts usually have a lawyer of the day to assist with filings or finding help for filing.

In most states of you’re low income then the department of human resources child support division will do it for you at no charge you just have to give them all the information they require.

Go to family court…

In Des Moines, Iowa there’s a specific official I walked into. They have forms to fill out, but because my request was already in through dhs they had to “go through the back door”. I’d call some places to see if an office where you live exists or how to get the paperwork mailed to you. No need for a lawyer as long as paternity is established.

Just look up child support services in your state and city. You do not need a lawyer

Idk about Illinois, but here is Washington you don’t need to go to court. You can contact the division of child support and find out more, I got the paperwork to file from the DSHS office.

Go to domestic relations office and file a complaint or go to welfare department .they will garnish his salary

Ask the department of human services they will go after him our contact land of lincoln

If your in illinois go to the court you were married in and ask for the forms to file for cs. You will need his address age, where he works. And u can get a court date and be sure you appear

Illinois here. Go to this website and apply for their services. They generally only need the information and they pretty much help you step by step. No charge

Go to the child support office.

You call family court or go down to fill out application for support. Dont let him get away with not paying

In our state, you can pay $25 to have a child support case opened. Each state is different

Their r people in social services that will help u please check with them i will keep u in my prays

In WA go the the division of child support… also have it automatically deducted from his paycheck! My ex has a gambling problem. He was LIVID about it… but the child support was paid.

You go to local domestic relations office and file for it

Im in pa but when I went to family court they assigned a lawyer to me for free. He was a pretty decent person too

U dont need a lawyer.
Go to the cs building and fill out papers bring ur id ,social and info tbats it

Just get the child support form, picked up from ird. You will have to fill it out and get the father to sign and with the childs birth certificate.

All you’d have to do is file a motion. He would be the respondent so he would be the one who would have to get a lawyer.

I’m in Ohio and had filed 5 years ago at I’m not sure what the laws are but…
I filled everything out online with the child support agency and they set up an appointment for us. They did a DNA test on us both, and when it came back set up an appointment for us to go over what the amount would be. Both parties need pay stubs, rent or utilities, etc. The only time going to court is necessary is if they try to fight the amount, and you still have to set it up through the agency. Call your local agency and speak to someone. I’m not sure how they do it from different states- they’ll let you up with a case worker. Really, once I filed they did most of the work, i just had to show up.

File go to court , you’ll need his SSN and place of employment

File for link and medical and then they will go and send you information on child support. Go with it from there. I live in Illinois and they sent it to me to go after my daughter’s father but he was paying me money weekly for her already.

Go to the child support office and sign up for it

Go to court… THEY will ask him for it :+1: He had a year to build his credit up, that’s long enough… do what’s best for your kids, not him, he’s taking advantage of you

Start at the court house…Family Court…you wont need a lawyer in the beginning…Fill out the paperwork to.the best of your knowledge…if you have any questions the clerk of courts can answer them…BUT they can not fill out the papers for you.YOU have to start the process yourself…Sure! Dudes gonna be upset…,and might even throw you a few dollars…for “hush money”…but think about how many times your children get upset when you have to tell them no…you cant afford ‘that new toy’…or ‘those new shoes’…or when you have to ‘pay out of pocket’ for child care. Once you get child support going things will begin to turn around for you.Coming from a single mother,I personally haven’t spent not one penny of my daughters child support.I support me n mine 100%…when her father does pay,it goes into an account for her future.Sure! We have our struggles…yet, who she will become after her college is paid…is a blessing in itself. You childs support system DOES MATTER! So go get you some!!

Call support enforcement and ask what you need to do. Usually you just need to file with the court and they have a formula and base it on income. Unless he’s not on the birth certificate, then it’s a whole different can of worms.

Go through your county. If you receive any type of State assistance they go after it for you. Contact your county and go about it that way. You don’t need a lawyer either, just research on what to do. Much cheaper.

Contact the state attorney general or your county office. The attorney generals office helps with all of it without the need for an expensive attorney.

Go through child support agency they were really helpful for me

Not to sound ugly, but i just used google and asked how to get child support in Illinois…LOADS of information.

Yes, start at the court house. That’s where I went first and then from there your agency that would help you get assistance like daycare or healthcare for your baby would help.

Go to the court house to the child support office and/or prosecutor’s office

Get a legal aid lawyer you don’t have to pay

If there is a domestic relations office in your state you have file papers for child support and make sure it’s court ordered so his wages are attached which means his boss has to deduct it from his paycheck and send the money to domestic relations which they in turn pay you. Good luck

Family courts get the papers to fill out and do it there or online but that might take longer

All states have programs to help get support as far as I know

Go to your local attorney generals office

You have to take his ass to court I did

Find out your local state welfare office they can help you get your child support

Start calling the military to see what you can do.

Child support is initiated by CSE in your home state. They reach out to the fathers state to establish an order. Start there

Go to his commanding officer

If you know what base he is at and what unit he is in, start there. If you don’t get any traction, call your local congressperson and have their office get in touch with his chain of command. Trust me, they will move so fast.

Commanding officer doesn’t always work. I have a two year old, her “father” is enlisted and I emailed and called his commanding officer and they did nothing. Maybe it will work for you, but remember, it will all be back dated as well. It’s sucks, and the process is horrible… but it’s going to screw him in the end. My daughters father has met her once when she was a month old, has only bought a box of diapers and is overseas until she is 4. He will owe 4 years of child support regardless

Him being in the military will actually work to your advantage! Definitely contact his commanding officer.

Seek out free legal services where he lives. So they can take the case or you go in person and open a case there.
Also I’m not positive but I’m pretty sure if you send him the notice through registered mail he has to sign for it therefore he got it and was aware of it.

Exactly I was about to say contact his chain of command lol
They’ll have him tracking.

Try they family readiness group as well. Its men and women who support spouses of active military members. They may ben able to send you in a direction. I’d also reach out to his base Chaplin.

Child support specialist just google it they will help you they help me cause the attorney general would tell me they couldn’t find him and the css help and now getting child support after 8 years

This is going to sound super shady, but my friend had the same exact problem and the ONLY way she was able to start getting child support was by applying for TANF through DHHS. DHHS actually recommended she do this because it speeds up the process quite a bit. It immediately made DHHS request a DNA test from the father (protocol). If they refuse, an automatic child support court case is held. If they accept and DNA proves that he is the father, again, a child support court case is held.
