How can I introduce silverware to my child?

When should I introduce a fork and spoon to my 15 month old? I tried when she was younger and she just threw it, of course. She’s my only good eater. My 6 year old is not, so I don’t want to try to get her tp eat with one because then she might get distracted and not eat.

I started mine when roughly 6 months when they could grab them. Sometimes they were thrown and a mess was cleaned but eventually they pick it up. Just takes patience.

I gave my kids silverware and I had silverware to feed them eventually they started to try and do it themselves

Maybe something fun and special!!

Just put it on her tray and let her watch you, eventually she will use it. If she throws it, just say “oh no”, pick it up and put it back on her tray. It’s really not a big deal. My youngest held silverware in one hand and ate with her other hand

I gave all my kids the rubber ones as soon as they were eating real food at 6 months. Even if they threw it, made a mess, lost it…

Get the ones with a loop for a handle, much easier to hold on to ,let her play around with it,she should be hand feeding herself

I started with hand over hand like have her grip the spoon and I’ll have my hand over hers and feed her like that for a little while

As soo as you can. we started at 12 months with my little one.
Started with forks , spoons we started at 15 months. I suggest teddy Silverware

Please teach them to hold it correctly. My kids all learned by 12 months to hold silverware. No overhanded holds but proper holds.

Just hand it to her and let her play with it while she eats. She won’t learn unless she tries and makes messes.

Give her the spoon for a while

Gave mine the kids plastic utensils as soon as they could set in the highchair and eat at 6 mo’s. When they came off the breast

I just gave my kids rubber baby spoons and let them have at it.
They played with them a lot at first but eventually stared mimicking what I did.

15 months?? You should have started that at about 6 months. My kids were eating with there’s good by 15 months

You can let her play with little spoons and forks with plastic coating to try to hold them without any food, or maybe with a bowl of water with which to practice. We had “splat mats” under the kids’ high chairs & got the plastic bibs with pockets at the bottom to make clean up easier.
